Chapter 3 - Poison in the Pedigree

🚨 UNBELIEVABLE TWIST: "You're Stalking The Wrong Ghost!" The Maid Drops A Bombshell That Changes Everything! The security guards moved instantly, raised firearms glinting under the chandelier light. But before they could take two steps, Julian stepped directly into their line of sight, shielding Elena behind his broad frame.

"Lower your weapons," Julian commanded, his voice ringing with the absolute authority of the CEO of Sterling Enterprises. "Look at who pays your salaries. Look at the signature on your monthly retainers. It is NOT Victoria Sterling. It is MY name."

The guards hesitated, glancing nervously between the furious matriarch on the couch and the powerful heir standing tall in front of them.

"He’s bluffing! Disarm him!" Victoria shrieked, her voice cracking with desperation.

"Touch him, and I press send," Elena announced loudly, raising a small digital device tied to a remote cloud server. "The moment my thumb leaves this sensor, every single page of my father's ledger, along with Victoria’s bank transfers, will be broadcast live to every news network and legal firm in the nation."

The lead guard lowered his weapon. "Madam Sterling... this is family business. We don't get paid enough for federal arson and homicide charges."

"Incompetent fools!" Victoria spat, standing up and grabbing a heavy bronze statuette from the side table. "Get out! ALL OF YOU! GET OUT!"

The guards quickly backed out of the room, slamming the grand doors shut behind them, leaving the three of me locked in a deadly silence once more.

Julian turned slowly to look at Elena. He saw his own eyes reflected in hers—the same dark blue iris, the same sharp jawline. How had he been so blind? How had he walked past this young woman every morning as she cleaned the halls, never noticing his own bloodline standing right in front of him?

"Elena," Julian whispered, extending a hand to her. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know. I swear to God, I didn't know."

Elena looked at his outstretched hand, but she didn't take it. A shadow of profound sorrow passed over her eyes.

"I know you didn't, Julian," she whispered softly. "That's why I came back. Not to destroy you... but to wake you up."

"It doesn't matter now," Victoria sneered, walking slowly toward the bar cart, her trembling hands pouring a glass of amber whiskey. "You think you’ve won? You think a dirty diary and a bank receipt can dismantle forty years of my empire? Julian, you foolish boy. You think you are the sole heir to this fortune?"

Victoria took a slow sip of her drink, her cold, calculating eyes fixing onto Julian with sinister amusement.

"What do you mean?" Julian demanded.

Victoria laughed—a sharp, cackling sound that echoed off the mahogany walls. "You think your father died in that fire, Julian? Oh, my sweet, naive boy. The fire wasn't meant to kill your father. It was meant to hide where he went."
