Chapter 3 - The Collision of Two WorldsAdam’s black SUV screeched to a halt at the alley entrance just as Rick burst out of the back door, brandishing a heavy glass bottle.

The security team didn't need orders. They moved with the surgical precision of former special forces. Before Rick could take two steps toward Sarah and Madison, he was pinned to the brick wall, his face pressed into the dirt.
Adam stepped out of the car. He was in a tailored suit that cost more than the apartment building, but his eyes were focused entirely on the woman shivering in the trash-strewn alley.
“Sarah?” he whispered.
Sarah looked up, her mascara ruined, her gray blouse torn. “Adam? How... how did you...”

“It doesn’t matter,” Adam said, moving past her to scoop Madison into his arms. He looked at the little girl—the same hazel eyes he saw in the mirror every morning. “Is this...?”
“She’s yours,” Sarah choked out. “She’s always been yours.”
