Chapter 5 - THE ROAD TO THE ADIRONDACKS🚗 HIGH-SPEED CHASE: Inside Julian’s Midnight Dash Into the Wilderness! The midnight air rushed through the open window of Julian’s custom-tuned matte-black Porsche Panamera as it tore down the interstate leading north out of the city.

The dashboard GPS flickered, charting a relentless course toward the dense, fog-shrouded wilderness of the Adirondack mountains.

Julian’s mind raced faster than the speedometer. Everything he thought he knew—his father's tragic death, his brother's ghost, the corporate coup, Bianca’s calculated betrayal—was nothing more than a carefully constructed house of cards built on blood and lies.

His phone buzzed repeatedly in the console cup holder.

He glanced down. It was a secure alert from his estate manager at Hale Manor:

MR. HALE: An unknown black SUV has been circling the perimeter gates for the past ten minutes. Security cameras show individuals attempting to bypass the biometric perimeter locks. Police have been dispatched, but local dispatch lines are jammed.

Julian’s grip on the steering wheel tightened until his knuckles turned white.

They weren't waiting for morning. The syndicate knew their corporate coup had failed, and they knew Julian was now hunting for the physical evidence hidden in the Adirondack lodge.

He was walking right into a trap—or racing toward the only truth that could save his family.

Ambush in the FogAs the highway narrowed into a winding, two-lane mountain pass surrounded by towering pine trees and sheer rock faces, the temperature plummeted. Thick, eerie fog rolled across the asphalt, reducing visibility to less than thirty feet.

Suddenly, two blinding high-beam headlights flared in his rear-view mirror.

A massive, unmarked black SUV materialized out of the fog, accelerating at a reckless speed, slamming directly onto Julian’s rear bumper with a sickening metallic thud.

"Damn it!" Julian cursed, slamming his foot down on the accelerator. The Porsche surged forward, its twin-turbo engine roaring as it carved through the hairpin turns of the mountain pass.

The SUV didn't back off. It surged forward again, deliberately ramming the rear quarter-panel of the sports car, sending a shower of orange sparks flying against the guardrails.

Julian fought the steering wheel, managing to keep the vehicle stable as he downshifted into a sharp corner.

Through his side mirror, he caught a glimpse of the passenger window of the pursuing SUV rolling down. A masked figure leaned out into the freezing night air, holding what looked unmistakably like a military-grade kinetic launcher.

Pop-hiss.

A high-pressure tracking dart slammed into the roof of Julian’s Porsche, instantly locking onto his vehicle's onboard computer network.

"They've got my telemetry," Julian muttered.

He realized he couldn't outrun them on the open road. The winding mountain pass favored heavy, all-terrain vehicles designed for rough wilderness pursuits. He needed to ditch the car, lose them in the dense pine forest, and reach the old family lodge on foot before they tracked his exact coordinates.

Two miles ahead, a rusted, disused logging trail branched off into the deep timberland—a shortcut known only to those who had grown up exploring the estate's vast private boundaries.

Julian yanked the steering wheel hard to the right, sliding the Porsche through a cloud of loose gravel and plunging directly into the dark, overgrown canopy of the Adirondack forest.
