Chapter 9 - The Final VerdictSix months later.

The courtroom of the New York Supreme Court was packed to the gills. Flashbulbs blinded anyone stepping out onto the courthouse steps. The trial of the decade—Sterling v. Sterling—had captivated the global financial markets and tabloid media alike.

Richard Sterling sat at the defense table, his legal team whispering frantically around him. The forensic audit initiated by Clara had uncovered a labyrinth of offshore accounts, illegal stock manipulation, and corporate espionage stretching back decades.

The evidence was overwhelming.

On the prosecution side sat Clara Sterling—now co-CEO of Sterling Global alongside her mother—looking breathtakingly sharp in a pristine white pantsuit, the Imperial green jade pendant resting securely around her neck.

Sitting beside her, acting as her chief legal strategist and corporate counsel, was Julian.

When Julian had walked out of the boardroom six months ago, he hadn't fled. He had spent weeks investigating his own past, realizing that while his bloodline belonged to the Vanes, his soul and loyalty belonged to the people who had raised him—and most importantly, to Clara. Rather than fighting the Sterlings, he had used his inside knowledge of the Vane assets to help Clara dismantle Richard’s corporate empire from the inside out.

The judge’s gavel came down with a sharp, echoing crack.

"On all counts of corporate fraud, embezzlement, obstruction of justice, and unlawful abduction," the judge announced, his voice solemn and resounding, "this court finds the defendant, Richard Sterling, guilty."

A wave of gasps and murmurs rippled through the courtroom.

Richard didn't flinch. He sat straight in his chair, his face a mask of cold, unyielding arrogance, even as federal marshals stepped forward and placed heavy steel cuffs around his wrists. As they led him past the prosecution table, Richard paused for a fraction of a second, looking directly at Clara and Julian.

"You think this is victory?" Richard whispered softly as he passed them. "You've just inherited a battlefield."

"No, Richard," Clara replied, her voice calm, clear, and utterly unshakable. "We inherited our legacy back. You're just history."

As the marshals led Richard away through the heavy oak doors, the courtroom erupted into a wall of sound.
