Chapter 10 - The Song That Belongs to EveryoneThe sun was setting over the Greenwich estate, casting long, golden fingers across the pale marble floors of the east parlor.

The house was quiet, save for the soft, rhythmic patter of small feet running down the hallway.
Rosa walked into the parlor carrying a tray with two cups of tea, stopping by the doorway as she looked at the scene unfolding before her. There were now two grand pianos sitting side by side in the sunlit room—one polished black, the other a rich, restored mahogany wood.
Ethan sat on a wide double bench, with Lily squeezed tightly between his legs. The little girl had her tiny hands placed directly over his massive ones as he pressed down slowly on the keys.
A rich, resonant chord filled the room, swelling upward toward the vaulted ceilings, carrying no anger, no coldness, and no fear—only warmth, family, and a future that stretched out endlessly before them.
Lily looked up at Ethan with those exact gray-green eyes, her gap-toothed smile wide and triumphant.
"It sings louder now," she announced solemnly.
Ethan laughed, pressing another chord that echoed like church bells through the magnificent, sunlit house. He glanced over his shoulder and caught Rosa standing in the doorway, her eyes shining with quiet, perfect happiness.
He extended his free hand toward her, beckoning her across the marble floor.
Rosa didn't hesitate. She set the tray down on a side table, walked across the room, and let Ethan pull her down onto the bench beside him, wrapping one strong arm securely around her waist while his other hand remained intertwined with their daughter's.

They played together—three sets of hands pressing keys that belonged to no single person, but to everyone who had ever dared to hope, to heal, and to love against all odds.
Outside, the frosted boxwoods swayed gently in the evening breeze, no longer afraid to grow.
