Chapter 3 - The Society's VengeanceBy midnight, Clara Vance’s phone hadn't stopped buzzing against her vanity table in her Manhattan penthouse.

“Clara, darling, is it true?” “Did Ethan really throw you out?” “The tabloids are having a field day, for God's sake fix this!”

Clara stared at her reflection in the illuminated mirror, her face twisted in pure, venomous malice. Her engagement ring—a five-carat cushion-cut diamond that had cost more than most houses—felt heavy and suffocating on her finger.

Discarded like trash. For a maid’s bastard.

She picked up her phone and dialed a number she rarely used—a private investigator whose loyalty belonged exclusively to old money secrets.

"Max," Clara purred into the receiver, her voice dripping with venom. "I need you to dig up every single piece of dirt on a woman named Rosa Martinez. Current maid at the Caldwell estate in Greenwich. I want her past, I want her student records, I want to know how a broke Columbia dropout suddenly spawned a kid who looks identical to Ethan Caldwell."

“You got it, Miss Vance. What's the angle?”

"The angle," Clara smiled coldly, "is destruction. I want to prove she's a fraud, an extortionist, or worse. And if she used some manipulative trick to trap Ethan... well, let's just say she's going to wish she stayed invisible."

Little did Clara know, the digital trail she was about to unleash wouldn't just destroy Rosa—it was going to blow the lid off a corporate conspiracy that Ethan Caldwell had spent five years trying to bury.
