The boxwood hedges still looked immaculate, but the house no longer felt frozen. The marble floors echoed with something entirely foreign to its history: laughter.
In the east parlor, the black, polished grand piano stood bathed in the warm light of the evening sun.
Lily sat on the piano bench, her feet dangling inches above the floor, her tiny fingers pressing down on the keys.

It wasn't a professional symphony. It wasn't a structured melody. It was just a child discovering the world, note by note, song by song.
Ethan stood in the doorway, his arms wrapped around Rosa from behind, her head resting comfortably against his chest as they watched their daughter play.
"She has your stubbornness," Ethan murmured, kissing the top of Rosa's hair.
"And she has your musical talent," Rosa countered, turning in his arms to wrap her arms around his neck.
