CHAPTER 5 — The Warehouse Fire

That evening...
Before Adrian could bring Walter and Emily home...
his phone rang.
The old security guard spoke in a panic.
"Sir..."
"They're burning the evidence."
Within minutes...
black SUVs raced toward an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city.
Flames already climbed into the night sky.
Firefighters hadn't arrived yet.
Walter stared at the burning building.
"My wife's journals..."
"They're inside."
Adrian didn't hesitate.
"I'm going in."
"No!" Walter shouted.
But Adrian had already disappeared into the smoke.
Inside...
the heat was unbearable.
Burning beams crashed around him.
Then...
he found a steel cabinet hidden beneath collapsed shelves.
Locked.
He smashed it open.
Inside were dozens of files.
Old videotapes.
Financial ledgers.
Court transcripts.
And one sealed envelope marked:
"If Adrian Ever Finds The Truth."
Suddenly...
a loud explosion shook the building.
The ceiling collapsed.
Adrian barely escaped carrying the cabinet.
Seconds later...
the warehouse collapsed completely.
Everyone believed the evidence had been destroyed.
But Adrian smiled through the smoke.
"It survived."
Walter opened the envelope with trembling hands.
Inside was a final confession.
Signed by Victor Sterling himself.
Every crime.
Every lie.
Every bribe.
Every kidnapping.
Everything.
Richard Blake watched from inside a black sedan parked across the street.
His face turned white.
He whispered,
"It's over..."
Then his driver said something even worse.
May you like
"Sir..."
"The FBI is behind us."
