CHAPTER 8 — THE HIDDEN ROOM THAT EXPOSED FIFTEEN YEARS OF LIES

The old key led everyone back to the ranch house.
Deep beneath the main barn was a forgotten storage room that hadn't been opened in decades.
The rusty lock clicked.
The heavy wooden door slowly creaked open.
A wave of stale air rolled into the hallway.
Flashlights swept across shelves covered in dust.
Old saddles.
Broken farming equipment.
Boxes filled with forgotten records.
Then Don Mateo noticed a steel filing cabinet tucked into the far corner.
The key fit perfectly.
Inside were dozens of folders labeled by year.
Veterinary reports.
Purchase receipts.
Employment contracts.
But one thick folder immediately caught everyone's attention.
Animal Abuse Complaints — Confidential
Don Mateo's face turned pale as he flipped through the pages.
Every complaint had been filed by Gabriel.
Every single one had disappeared before reaching the authorities.
Each report described the same person.
Rafael Ortega.
There were photographs of injured cattle.
Medical records documenting untreated wounds.
Signed witness statements from ranch workers.
Someone had hidden all the evidence.
Esteban let out a heavy sigh.
"If these papers had reached the police fifteen years ago..."
"Gabriel might still be alive."
The sheriff carefully sealed every document as evidence.
Rafael would now face far more than a single charge.
The truth had finally caught up with him.
As the officials packed away the files, the boy quietly stepped outside.
Demon was waiting beneath the first light of dawn.
The teenager wrapped his arms around the bull's neck.
"You kept your promise..."
"You never forgot my father."
The giant animal let out a long, peaceful breath.
For the first time since arriving at the ranch...
He no longer looked like a monster.
He looked like a survivor.
Don Mateo walked over carrying the envelope containing the €100,000 reward.
He placed it into the boy's hands once again.
"This belongs to you."
The teenager looked at the money for a long moment.
Then he smiled softly and handed it back.
"I don't want it."
The crowd gasped.
Don Mateo frowned.
"Then what do you want?"
The boy looked across the ranch where frightened horses, rescued cattle, and Demon stood quietly in the morning sun.
"I want this place to become a sanctuary."
"A place where no animal is ever hurt again."
Silence filled the valley.
Then, one by one, the people who had witnessed everything began to applaud.

Not because a boy had tamed the most feared bull in the region...
But because he had reminded everyone that kindness is stronger than fear, and that the greatest victories are won not through force—but through compassion.
