CHAPTER 6 – The Kidnapping That Changed Everything

Rain crashed against the skyscrapers as Jason raced out of the penthouse with Emily.

For the first time in years...

They weren't husband and wife.

They weren't enemies.

They were two desperate adults trying to save one terrified little boy.

Meanwhile...

Across the city...

The child sat alone inside an abandoned warehouse.

His hands weren't tied.

The kidnappers hadn't touched him.

Because they didn't need to.

A masked man placed an old photograph in front of him.

"Tell us where your mother hid the drive."

The boy shook his head.

"I don't know."

The man slammed his fist on the table.

"Don't lie!"

"My mom said never to tell strangers."

Across the room...

Another figure stepped out of the shadows.

Vanessa.

The boy's eyes widened.

"You..."

She smiled coldly.

"You've grown."

"I tried to erase your family once."

"I'll finish it today."

Back at the penthouse...

Richard suddenly remembered something.

"The diary!"

Emily grabbed Sophia's diary from the table.

The final pages had been glued together.

She carefully pulled them apart.

Hidden inside...

was a tiny encrypted flash drive.

Jason stared in disbelief.

"Sophia knew..."

Richard nodded.

"She recorded every crime."

"Every payment."

"Every name."

Emily looked at the drive.

"If Vanessa gets this..."

"Thousands of innocent people will lose everything."

Just then...

Jason's phone buzzed.

A live video appeared.

Their son was on the screen.

Vanessa stood behind him with one hand resting on his shoulder.

She smiled directly into the camera.

"You have one hour."

"Bring me the flash drive..."

May you like

"Or the next person this little boy calls 'Mom'..."

"...will also be the last."
