CHAPTER 6 – The Man Who Faked His Own Death

Victor Voss leaned back in his leather chair as though he had been waiting for this exact moment.
Behind him stood dozens of armed security guards.
"I've watched every one of you for years," he said calmly.
"Ethan..."
"You were simply the perfect father."
Emily clenched her fists.
"You murdered your own brother!"
Victor laughed.
"No."
"I convinced the world that I did."
Adrian stared in horror.
"What are you talking about?"
Victor smiled wider.
"There was never a dead brother."
"There was never a funeral."
"I created enemies who never existed."
"Fear controls people far better than love."
He looked directly at Lily.
"And now..."
"You've voluntarily transferred the inheritance into my holding company."
Lily collapsed onto the floor.
"I didn't know..."
Victor interrupted.
"Of course you didn't."
"You signed exactly where my lawyers told you."
Then his smile disappeared.
"But there is one problem."
He turned his attention to Ethan.
"You."
"For twenty years, you stayed honest."
"You never sold Emily's ring."
"You never abandoned Lily."
"You became something I never expected."
"A man impossible to buy."
Victor slowly stood.
"So now..."
"I'll simply erase you."
At that exact second, every light inside the apartment went out.
Darkness swallowed the room.
Then...
A deafening explosion shattered every window.
The armed guards outside were thrown backward.
Black helicopters hovered above the building.
Ropes dropped from the sky.
Elite tactical officers flooded into the apartment.
Victor's smile vanished for the first time.
A commanding voice echoed through the smoke.
"Victor Voss!"
"This is a federal operation!"
"Your empire ends tonight!"
Ethan looked toward the doorway.
Leading the raid was a woman wearing an FBI tactical vest.
She removed her helmet.
Emily gasped.
It was her younger sister...
The sister everyone believed had died in the same explosion twenty years earlier.
She raised her rifle at Victor and said,
"You should have made sure both sisters were dead."
Victor's face turned pale.

For the first time in decades...
