Chapter 5 - CHLOE'S BETRAYAL

Stripped of his cash, his car keys, and his luxury penthouse, Robert dragged his single suitcase to Chloe’s high-rise apartment in Midtown, sweat soaking through his designer shirt. He banged furiously on the door.

When Chloe finally opened it, she was packed. Two massive Rimowa suitcases stood in her hallway.

"Chloe!" Robert panted, pushing his way inside. "Thank God. Listen to me, we need to call my uncle’s rival law firm. We can fight Victoria. We still have the physical access keys to the Cayman accounts, right?"

Chloe looked at him with sheer disgust. The romantic illusion of the powerful, wealthy COO was completely shattered; standing in front of her was a desperate, ruined fugitive.

"Are you insane, Robert?" Chloe snapped, rolling her suit luggage toward the door. "I just spoke with Federal prosecutors."

Robert froze. "What?"

"They offered me a full immunity deal," Chloe said coldly, pulling on her leather gloves. "In exchange for complete cooperation and handing over all your encrypted text messages detailing how you orchestrated the $45 million theft, I avoid prison time."

"You traitor!" Robert screamed, lunging toward her. "I ruined my life for you! I built that shell company for us!"

"You didn't build anything for us, Robert," Chloe sneered, stepping past him toward her private security detail waiting in the hall. "Victoria was right about you. Without her, you really are nothing."
