CHAPTER 2 — The Woman Who Owned Everything

Nobody moved.

Nobody even blinked.

The silence inside the boardroom became so heavy that the faint hum of the air-conditioning sounded deafening.

Damian laughed.

It was forced.

Cold.

Mocking.

"Enough games."

He looked around the room, expecting everyone else to laugh with him.

No one did.

The CEO calmly opened the black folder.

Inside lay dozens of documents bound with silver clips.

Original ownership certificates.

International banking records.

Corporate trust agreements.

The first page slid slowly across the polished table.

Straight toward Damian.

He barely glanced at it.

Then his expression changed.

His smile disappeared.

His breathing stopped.

Printed across the top were words he had never imagined seeing.

ELENA VOSS

Founder.

Principal Shareholder.

Ultimate Controlling Owner — Voss Global Holdings.

His fingers began trembling.

"No..."

He grabbed the papers.

Turned another page.

Then another.

Each document only made things worse.

Company after company.

Holding corporation after holding corporation.

Luxembourg.

Singapore.

Switzerland.

Delaware.

The Cayman Islands.

Every invisible company behind Voss Global belonged to Elena.

Every trust.

Every investment vehicle.

Every acquisition.

Every hidden voting share.

She owned ninety-one percent of everything.

Damian...

Owned less than two.

His knees almost gave out.

Veronica stepped beside him.

"This has to be fake."

"It isn't."

An elderly board member finally stood.

His voice was calm.

"I've worked for this company for thirty-three years."

He looked at Elena with quiet respect.

"We all signed confidentiality agreements."

Damian stared.

"You knew?"

The old director nodded.

"We all knew."

"You let me run this company!"

"No."

"You were allowed to think you were running it."

The room remained painfully quiet.

Years of memories suddenly crashed into Damian's mind.

Every board vote that mysteriously favored him.

Every crisis solved overnight.

Every impossible government approval.

Every billionaire who unexpectedly partnered with him.

He thought he had built influence.

Now he understood.

Doors hadn't opened because of him.

They had opened...

Because of Elena.

She had simply stood behind him.

Invisible.

Until today.

Damian turned toward her.

His arrogance had vanished.

Only panic remained.

"Why?"

Elena looked at him for several long seconds.

Then she answered.

"Because I loved you."

Those five words hit harder than any slap.

"I believed power would change you."

"I believed success would make you kinder."

"I believed protecting your dream meant protecting our family."

She smiled sadly.

"I was wrong."

Veronica suddenly exploded.

"This is ridiculous!"

She pointed directly at Elena.

"You're lying!"

"I'm the woman Damian loves!"

Elena slowly looked toward her.

For the first time...

She actually smiled.

"You still think this is about love."

She reached into her handbag.

Removed a thin blue folder.

Placed it gently on the table.

"What is that?"

"Our internal investigation."

Veronica frowned.

"I don't understand."

"You will."

The head of corporate security stepped forward.

He opened the folder.

Large photographs spilled across the table.

Hidden cameras.

Secret meetings.

Luxury hotels.

Encrypted cash transfers.

Offshore accounts.

Veronica's face turned completely white.

"No..."

The investigator continued.

"Twelve million dollars."

"Taken from company foundations."

"Seven shell corporations."

"Three bribed officials."

"And..."

He turned another page.

"One murder-for-hire contract."

The room erupted.

Damian looked horrified.

"What?"

Veronica grabbed his arm.

"Listen to me!"

He pulled away.

"No..."

His voice cracked.

"No..."

Elena spoke quietly.

"The target wasn't me."

Everyone stared.

"It was you."

The room froze.

Damian slowly turned toward Veronica.

Her silence confirmed everything.

She hadn't loved him.

She had been waiting.

Waiting for Elena to disappear.

Waiting for Damian to inherit everything.

Waiting...

To remove him too.

Security officers surrounded Veronica.

She screamed.

She cried.

She cursed Elena.

But nobody listened anymore.

As they dragged her toward the doors...

She suddenly laughed.

A terrifying laugh.

"You think you've won?"

She looked directly at Elena.

"You still don't know the truth."

Everyone froze again.

Veronica smiled through tears.

"Ask Damian..."

"...who really died fifteen years ago."

She was dragged from the room.

The doors slammed shut.

Silence.

Elena slowly turned toward Damian.

His face had become ghostly pale.

Because he knew exactly what Veronica meant.

There was one secret...

One grave...

One missing file...

One night fifteen years earlier...

That Elena had never discovered.

Until now.

And when that buried truth finally surfaced...

It wouldn't just destroy Damian's empire.

May you like

It would destroy their entire past.
