Chapter 5 - Shadows of the Deceased

Viral Title: HE IS ALIVE?! The Dead Brother Returns with a Dark Secret that Changes the Entire Plot! 😲💥

Adrian froze, his gun raised, his heart stopping for the second time that night. "Julian?"

The man stepped into the light. His face was heavily scarred, a map of burns and surgical reconstructions, but the eyes were unmistakably his brother’s. "Hello, Adrian. You've grown up."

"You died four years ago! I buried you!" Adrian shouted, his voice cracking with a mixture of rage and profound grief.

"You buried an empty casket and a body double provided by Dr. Evans," Julian said, his voice raspy. He looked past Adrian, his eyes locking onto the baby wrapped in the yellow blanket in Maya's arms. Tears welled up in the scarred man's eyes. "My beautiful Nora..."

"If you're alive, why didn't you come to me?" Adrian demanded. "Why let Victoria run rampant? Why leave your daughter in a warehouse?"

"Because I was a prisoner, Adrian," Julian explained bitterly. "I escaped their black site only three months ago. I’ve been building an army from the shadows to take Victoria down. But she found out. She kidnapped Nora from my safehouse last week to bait me out. She used Maya to bring Nora to you because she knew you would protect her, drawing both of us into the same trap."

Before the brothers could embrace, a cold laugh echoed from the tunnel behind them.

Victoria stepped out of the darkness, flanked by a dozen heavily armed mercenaries. She held a remote detonator in her hand.

"How touching," Victoria mocked. "The family reunion I’ve been waiting for. You see, Adrian, Julian’s wealth wasn't just in banks. He discovered a massive, untraceable cryptocurrency reserve built on a global black-market ledger. The access key is hardcoded into a sub-dermal bio-chip implanted in that baby’s shoulder. I don't need the baby alive. I just need the chip."

She looked at Maya. "And you, you little rat. You were supposed to leave the baby and run. Why are you still here?"

Maya stood tall, her tiny body shielding Nora. "Because you're bad people. And Adrian is a good man. He asked me who told me I didn't deserve to eat. No one ever asked me that before."

"Enough melodrama," Victoria snapped, raising the detonator. "Hand over the child, or I blow this entire tunnel structure, burying all of you alive under fifty tons of concrete."
