Chapter 2 - THE BLOODLINE SECRETS

A Target on His BackBefore the bodyguards could take two steps, Eleanor slid a sleek black smartphone from inside her worn coat—a device entirely out of place with her ragtag appearance. She pressed a single button.
Within five seconds, six dark SUVs screeched to a halt outside the glass doors. A dozen tactical security officers in unmarked black uniforms swarmed the boutique, surrounding Julian’s bodyguards with military precision.
"Stand down, Julian," Eleanor warned, her voice dropping an octave. "You may control the board, but I still control the family security network."
Julian gritted his teeth, his jaw working furiously. "Aunt Eleanor, you’ve been missing for three decades. The media thinks you're dead! You can't just walk into my store, give a homeless-looking janitor the key to our black-budget vault, and pretend you still run the world!"
"I can, and I just did," Eleanor replied calmly. She turned her wheelchair toward Leo. "Leo, stand up."
Leo scrambled to his feet, holding the key like it was a hot coal. "Ma'am... Miss Harrison... I don't understand. I just work here. I clean the floors. I don't belong in whatever war this is."
"You belong here more than you know, child," Eleanor said crypticly. She looked up at Julian. "Tell me, nephew... why does Leo’s face look so familiar to you? Take a good look at his eyes. His jawline."
Julian took a step closer, squinting at Leo. Suddenly, his breath hitched. The blood drained from his face for the second time that afternoon. "No... no, that's impossible. Richard's son died in the hospital fire twenty-two years ago!"
"Did he?" Eleanor chuckled, a dark, humorless sound. "Or did someone pay the nurses to swap the infant and set the fire to destroy the records? You thought you wiped out my brother Richard’s entire bloodline so you could inherit the throne, Julian. But fate has a funny way of preserving the truth."
Leo felt his world spin. "Wait... what are you talking about? I'm an orphan! I grew up in the St. Jude foster home!"
"Your birth name is Leonardo Harrison," Eleanor announced, her voice echoing through the silent showroom. "You are the rightful firstborn heir to the Harrison fortune. And that key in your hand unlocks the private archive containing your father's true will—and the evidence of who tried to murder you as a baby."
Julian’s shock instantly transformed into venomous rage. He pulled a small silver detonator from his pocket and pressed it without hesitation.
