Chapter 8 - THE NEW KING OF DIAMONDS

The Ultimate Betrayal and the CrownSIRENS WAILD IN THE DISTANCE.

Heavy police boots thundered down the subway stairs above.

"Drop your weapons! Federal Bureau! Hands in the air!" heavy tactical officers flooded the underground corridor, weapons drawn.

Victoria threw her gun down immediately, falling to her knees with her hands up, sobbing hysterically as she realized her life was over.

Julian, driven mad by the total destruction of his reputation and empire, raised his gun toward Leo in a blind rage. "If I go down, you go down with me!"

THWACK!

A heavy metal cane slammed hard across Julian’s wrist, knocking the gun to the cold concrete floor.

Julian screamed in pain, clutching his broken hand. He looked up in shock.

Standing behind him was Eleanor Harrison. But she wasn't alone—she was surrounded by federal agents and her own personal security detail.

"Aunt Eleanor... you... you betrayed me?!" Julian gasped.

"I didn't betray you, Julian," Eleanor said, her voice like steel. "I baited you. I knew you would track the satellite phone. I knew your arrogance would make you confess your crimes on camera. You fell for the exact same trap I set for your father thirty years ago."

Leo stared at Eleanor, bewildered. "You... you planned this whole thing? The boutique, the falling chair, the secret tunnel?"

Eleanor turned to Leo, her eyes softening with real emotion for the first time.

"I had to know if you possessed two things, Leonardo," she said softly. "The heart to help a helpless old woman when no one else would... and the brain to defeat a monster like Julian without taking a life. You passed both tests."

ONE MONTH LATER...The grand ballroom of the Harrison Tower was packed with international press, billionaires, and world leaders.

Cameras flashed continuously as Eleanor Harrison walked up to the podium—no longer in a wheelchair, but standing tall, wearing a striking dark blue suit.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Eleanor announced into the microphones. "Thirty years ago, a tragedy tore my family apart. But today, justice has been served. Julian Harrison and Victoria Vance face life sentences for conspiracy and corporate crimes."

She paused, turning toward the side of the stage.

"And now, in accordance with the true final will of Richard Harrison, I present to you the sole owner of Harrison International and the new Chairman of the Board..."

Leo stepped onto the stage.

He was no longer wearing his dirty blue maintenance uniform. He wore a perfectly tailored dark navy tuxedo. But around his neck, resting against his collar, hung a simple silver chain holding a single, reconstructed pearl.

The crowd erupted into applause. Reporters shouted questions, holding up microphones.

"Mr. Harrison! How does it feel to go from sweeping floor tiles to controlling a $100 billion empire overnight?!" a reporter yelled.

Leo smiled gently, looking out over the sea of flashing cameras. He picked up the microphone.

"It reminds me of a simple truth," Leo said, his voice ringing clear and strong across the room. "The value of a person isn't determined by how high they stand... but by whether they are willing to bend down for someone who has fallen."
