Chapter 5 - SILENT SHADOWS

The Hunt in the SubwaysThe secret lift descended at breakneck speed, plunging Leo into the damp, dark depths beneath the city.
When the platform finally screeched to a halt, Leo found himself standing in an abandoned, dust-choked subway tunnel built in the early 20th century. The air smelled of rust, stagnant water, and ozone.
Above him, he could hear the muffled thuds of Julian’s mercenaries realization that the vault was empty.
"Find him!" Julian’s voice echoed down the ventilation shaft, faint but filled with rage. "Block every subway exit from 4th Street to 12th Street! I want his head on my desk by midnight!"

Leo began navigating the pitch-black tunnels, using the faint light of his phone screen. After twenty minutes of creeping through the shadows, he heard footsteps echoing in the darkness ahead—boot heels clicking against the concrete.
He ducked behind a rusted train car, holding his breath.
Two men in black tactical gear marched past, night-vision goggles mounted on their helmets, suppressed rifles raised. They were systematically sweeping the tunnels.
"He's just an untrained kid," one guard whispered into his radio comms. "He won't last ten minutes down here."

Leo felt his heart hammering against his ribs like a trapped bird. He was an orphan who spent his life cleaning floors and serving rich people coffee. He didn't know how to fight mercenaries.
Then, he noticed a heavy, rusted iron pipe lying near his foot. And next to it, an open high-voltage junction box sparking faintly against the damp wall...
