CHAPTER 1 – The Woman He Pretended Not to Know

The engines of the private jet roared as passengers gathered on the exclusive runway.

Everyone turned when an elegant elderly woman stepped out of a black SUV. She wore a simple gray coat, carried an old leather handbag, and walked with quiet confidence.

Before she could reach the stairs, a sharply dressed businessman blocked her path.

"Move aside," he snapped.

The woman looked at him... then froze.

"Ethan?"

It was her son.

For a split second, his face changed. He recognized her instantly.

But then he glanced toward his glamorous fiancée, Victoria, and several billionaire investors standing nearby.

His expression hardened.

"I'm sorry," he said loudly enough for everyone to hear, "you must have mistaken me for someone else."

The words hit her like a knife.

"Ethan... it's me."

Victoria rolled her eyes.

"Oh, another scammer pretending to know wealthy people."

Laughter spread through the crowd.

One investor whispered, "Security should remove her."

The old woman looked at her son, hoping he would stop them.

Instead...

He took a step backward.

"I don't know this woman."

Her hands trembled.

She had sold her jewelry to pay for his education.

She had worked three jobs after his father died.

She had skipped meals so he could chase his dreams.

Now...

He couldn't even admit she was his mother.

Victoria smirked and threw a stack of boarding documents onto the ground.

"If you need money so badly," she sneered, "pick those up."

The papers scattered across the runway.

The elderly woman slowly bent down.

Just as she reached for the first sheet...

A deep voice echoed across the tarmac.

"Nobody touches those documents."

Every head turned.

The private jet's captain had stepped down from the aircraft.

He walked directly toward the old woman.

Then...

To everyone's horror...

He removed his cap.

And bowed.

"Welcome back, Madam."

Silence swallowed the runway.

Ethan's smile vanished.

Because the captain wasn't bowing out of kindness...

He was bowing to the true owner of the jet.

And everyone was about to discover the secret Ethan had buried for twenty-five years.
