CHAPTER 6 — The Enemy Behind the Curtain

At midnight...
Claire received an anonymous package.
No return address.
Inside was an old flash drive.
One note.
"You married the wrong Blackwell."
Her heart stopped.
She plugged it into her laptop.
Hidden security footage filled the screen.
Date:
Ten years earlier.
The company's first headquarters.
Claire watched in horror.
Arthur wasn't alone that night.
Another man was inside the office.
A man she'd never seen before.
He quietly copied company documents.
Stole financial records.
And photographed every shareholder agreement.
Then...
He smiled directly at the hidden security camera.
Almost as if he knew someone would one day watch the recording.
The video ended with one chilling sentence typed across the screen.
"He has been waiting for this divorce."
Claire immediately called Arthur.
No answer.
Again.
Nothing.
She rushed to the nursing home.
His room...
Was empty.
The bed had never been slept in.
The nurse looked confused.
"I'm sorry..."
"Mr. Arthur Blackwell checked out this morning."
Claire stared in disbelief.
"He left?"
The nurse slowly shook her head.
"No."
"He was picked up."
"By someone who called him..."
'Chairman.'
Claire's blood ran cold.
Because there was only one person inside Blackwell Technologies who still used that title.
A man who had supposedly died...
Eleven years ago.
And if he was still alive...
Then Ethan had never been the real enemy.
May you like
He had only been...
The first victim.
