CHAPTER 9 — The Final Password

Blackwell Technologies collapsed into chaos.

Trading was halted.

Banks froze billions of dollars.

Customers panicked.

Employees feared the company would disappear forever.

Reporters called it...

The largest corporate cyberattack in American history.

Michael smiled from his prison cell.

"You'll never recover."

"The only backup server is gone."

Claire stared silently at the dark computer screens.

Then...

Arthur laughed.

For the first time in years.

William smiled.

"So..."

"You finally remembered?"

Claire froze.

Remembered?

Then suddenly...

A memory from twelve years ago came rushing back.

The very first night Ethan launched the company.

He had forgotten to create a secure backup.

Claire had secretly copied every line of code.

Every patent.

Every contract.

Every employee record.

She had stored everything...

Not on the company's servers.

But on an old encrypted hard drive hidden inside the leather folder she had carried since the divorce.

The same folder...

Everyone had laughed at.

Claire slowly placed the drive on the table.

"I never threw away our beginning."

The cybersecurity team connected it.

One by one...

The company's systems came back online.

Files.

Accounts.

Patents.

Contracts.

Everything.

The room erupted in applause.

Michael watched the news from his prison cell.

His smile disappeared.

For the first time...

He looked afraid.

But Claire wasn't celebrating.

Because during the system restoration...

A hidden encrypted folder appeared.

Its name contained only two words:

Project Heir.

Inside...

Was a DNA report.

A birth certificate.

And one photograph.

The little boy standing beside Claire in the picture wasn't Ethan's nephew.

He wasn't an employee's son.

According to the documents...

He was the biological heir to the entire Blackwell fortune.

And his father...

Was not Ethan Blackwell.

It was William Blackwell.

The billionaire everyone believed had died.

Claire slowly looked up at William.

He lowered his eyes.

"I've kept that secret for twenty years."

May you like

"But now..."

"The whole world is about to know why."
