CHAPTER 9 — The Secret Inside the Watch

Everyone turned toward Noah.

Slowly...

he removed the old silver pocket watch from his backpack.

The same watch that had started everything.

Alexander carefully examined it.

Nothing unusual.

Until Noah accidentally pressed the winding crown twice.

Click.

A hidden compartment slid open.

Inside...

was a tiny memory chip.

Rebecca immediately copied the files.

A map appeared.

Then hundreds of encrypted account numbers.

Followed by one final document.

The Original Whitmore Trust.

Margaret had secretly transferred every legitimate Whitmore asset into a protected trust decades earlier.

Only one beneficiary existed.

Noah Carter.

Not Alexander.

Not Edward.

Not the board.

Noah.

Edward's laughter echoed through the speakers.

"You think that's your victory?"

"You've just activated the system."

Across the world...

banks began freezing accounts.

Shell companies collapsed.

Hidden fortunes surfaced.

Governments launched emergency investigations.

Within hours...

the largest financial fraud in modern history was unraveling.

Edward had spent thirty years building a criminal empire.

Margaret had spent thirty years preparing to destroy it.

And Noah...

without realizing it...

had just pulled the final trigger.

Suddenly, Emily's secure phone rang.

She answered.

Her expression changed instantly.

Alexander's heart sank.

"What happened?"

Emily looked directly at him through the video call.

"He escaped."

Rebecca frowned.

"Who?"

Emily's voice barely rose above a whisper.

"Edward."

"He left the island ten minutes before the FBI arrived."

Silence.

Then another message appeared on every screen.

Just four words.

THE GAME HAS BEGUN.

Alexander slowly stood.

He looked at Emily.

Then at Noah.

"For twenty-one years..."

"...our family was running."

He picked up the pocket watch and closed it.

"Now..."

"We hunt."

And somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic...

aboard a black yacht disappearing into the fog...

Edward Whitmore smiled as he watched the sunrise.

May you like

Because the final chapter...

had only just begun.
