Chapter 4 - SIEGE AT THE ESTATE

Headline: THEY DEMANDED THE LITTLE GIRL’S LIFE—BUT THE MAFIA DON WOULD BURN THE CITY TO PROTECT HER!

The metallic voice echoes through the dark corridors of the mansion, sending a shiver down Maria’s spine. She immediately pulled Emma into her arms, hugging her daughter tightly against her chest.

"They want my baby..." Maria wept, tears streaming down her pale face. "Don Alejandro, please! Don't let them take her!"

Alejandro turned to Maria and Emma. His dark eyes flickered with a raw, terrifying wrath that had been dormant since the day his own daughter died three years ago.

He knelt before Emma, taking her small hands in his massive, scarred palms.

"Listen to me, Emma," Alejandro said, his voice dead serious yet infinitely soft. "You saved my life tonight. As long as I draw breath, no one in this world will ever harm a single hair on your head. Do you understand me?"

Emma nodded bravely, wiping a tear from her cheek. "I believe you, Mr. Quiet Man."

Alejandro stood up, turning to Bruno. "Arm every soldier on the perimeter. Switch all defense systems to automatic kill-zones. If anything moves on the grounds that doesn't wear a Moretti crest, shoot to kill."

"What about the insider?" Bruno asked, gripping his assault rifle. "Leo said someone on the Commission backed this."

"We deal with the attackers first," Alejandro ordered. "Julian, take Maria and Emma to the panic room beneath the master suite. It’s reinforced with four-inch titanium plating and has its own oxygen supply. Lock them in from the inside."

Julian nodded grimly. "Consider it done, Don Alejandro. I’ll guard the door with my life."

As Julian led Maria and Emma up the emergency stairs, Alejandro walked over to the gun rack on the bunker wall, unholstering a pair of tactical handguns and equipping a ballistic vest.

"Marcus," Alejandro called out to the tech operator. "Can you track the source of that audio transmission?"

"It bounced off a local cellular tower two miles away," Marcus replied, frantically tapping on his backup laptop screen. "But Boss... I’m reading multiple thermal signatures breaching the eastern perimeter fence! Heavily armed strike teams! At least thirty men!"

"They brought a small army," Alejandro sneered, a dark, vicious smile spreading across his face. "Good. I was worried I wouldn't have enough blood to wash my study rug."

Outside, the autumn wind howled through the cypress trees as heavy black SUVs crashed through the iron gates of the estate. Muffled gunshots and grenade explosions echoed across the lawn as the estate's automated turrets engaged the invaders.

Alejandro marched into the central foyer, his long black coat billowing behind him like the wings of a vengeful shadow.

The front double doors burst open under the impact of a breaching charge. Dust and shattered wood filled the air as six masked mercenaries rushed into the grand entrance, weapons raised.

"Clear the hall!" the mercenary leader yelled.

Alejandro didn't flinch.

He stepped into the open light, dual pistols raised, and unleashed a hail of precision gunfire.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

Three mercenaries fell instantly, blood spraying across the white marble floor. Alejandro moved with terrifying grace—a seasoned killer fighting not just for his empire, but for the ghost of his lost daughter and the child who had returned his life to him.

He reloaded in a flash, dropping another attacker with a point-blank shot to the chest.

"Is that all you brought?!" Alejandro bellowed over the sound of gunfire, his voice echoing through the vaulted ceiling. "Tell Valenti he’s going to need more men!"

Suddenly, his radio crackled to life with a desperate, frantic cry from the upper levels.

"Don Alejandro! It’s a distraction!" Bruno’s voice screamed over the comms. "The primary team didn't attack the front gate! They bypassed the security codes and went straight for the master suite elevator! They're targeting the panic room!"

Alejandro’s heart stopped.

The secret codes to the panic room were known only to three people in the world.

And one of them was walking with a limp.
