CHAPTER 1: The Dog That Defied a Billionaire's Final Flight
The morning air smelled of jet fuel and fresh rain.
Everything had been planned down to the second.
The world's media had been talking about only one thing for weeks—a mysterious business deal worth nearly five billion dollars. If billionaire Alexander Grant, the founder of one of the largest technology empires in the world, signed the contract that morning, his company would dominate the global market for decades.
Failure wasn't an option.
Alexander hadn't slept for nearly four nights.
Coffee replaced water.
Meetings replaced family.
Success had become his only language.
At exactly 6:45 A.M., his black armored limousine rolled onto the private runway.
The aircraft was already waiting.
Its polished silver body reflected the sunrise like a mirror, while pilots and crew stood ready beside the stairs.
Everything looked perfect.
Except for one thing.
Rich.
A massive white Great Pyrenees who had spent almost ten years protecting Alexander.
Rich wasn't just a dog.
He had once saved Alexander from a home invasion.
Another time he detected a gas leak before anyone else noticed.
Alexander trusted the dog more than most humans.
As the chauffeur opened the limousine door, Rich jumped out first.
He stretched lazily.
Everything seemed normal.
Alexander smiled.
"Well, old friend... wish me luck."
He adjusted his expensive Italian suit and picked up his leather briefcase.
Only twenty steps separated him from history.
Or so he believed.
The moment he stepped toward the aircraft...
Rich froze.
His ears flattened.
Every muscle in his giant body tightened.
Then...
He exploded into furious barking.
The sound echoed across the empty runway.
Everyone turned.
Alexander frowned.
"Rich?"
The dog sprinted directly in front of him, blocking the path.
His enormous body formed a living wall.
Alexander laughed awkwardly.
"What are you doing?"
He tried stepping left.
Rich moved left.
He stepped right.
Rich blocked him again.
The dog's eyes never left the aircraft.
Not once.
It wasn't ordinary barking.
It sounded...
Desperate.
Almost terrified.
The security team looked confused.
"I've never seen him like this."
One guard reached for Rich's collar.
The dog snapped the leash free with unbelievable strength.
Instead of attacking...
He pushed Alexander backward with both paws.
Hard.
The billionaire stumbled.
His briefcase fell onto the concrete.
Papers scattered everywhere.
Rich stood over him.
Growling.
Whining.
Barking.
Again and again.
His breathing became frantic.
His eyes looked almost...
Human.
As though he knew something no one else did.
Alexander's patience disappeared.
"Enough!"
His voice echoed across the runway.
"I don't have time for this."
The meeting could not wait.
Billions depended on it.
He gestured toward two security guards.
"Take him back to the car."
The guards slowly approached.
Rich backed away.
Then suddenly charged.
Not toward them.
Toward the airplane.
He stopped only a few feet from the stairs.
His barking became even louder.
Passengers inside the jet looked through the windows.
Crew members exchanged nervous glances.
One mechanic whispered,
"Animals don't act like this without a reason..."
The chief pilot checked every instrument again.
Everything appeared normal.
Fuel pressure.
Hydraulics.
Navigation systems.
All green.
"No issues," he reported confidently.
Alexander shook his head.
"See? Nothing's wrong."
He picked up his briefcase.
This time...
He walked faster.
Rich screamed.
Not barked.
Screamed.
The chilling sound froze everyone on the runway.
It echoed through the silent morning like a warning from another world.
Then...
The dog suddenly threw himself against Alexander with all his weight.
The billionaire crashed backward onto the concrete.
His watch shattered.
His phone slid several meters away.
Before anyone could react—
BOOM!
A deafening explosion erupted beneath the aircraft.
Flames burst from the left engine.
A shockwave blasted across the runway.
Windows shattered.
Crew members screamed.
The aircraft rocked violently.
Everyone dropped to the ground.
Black smoke filled the sky.
The jet Alexander had been seconds away from boarding was now surrounded by fire.
Silence.
No one moved.
Alexander slowly looked at Rich.
The dog stood in front of him...
Still growling at the burning aircraft.
As if he'd known this would happen.
But that wasn't what terrified Alexander the most.
Because while firefighters rushed toward the flames...
Rich suddenly turned away from the jet...
And stared directly at one of Alexander's own bodyguards.
The dog growled.
Low.
Cold.
Dangerous.
For the first time in ten years...
Rich wasn't warning about the airplane.
