Chapter 5 - The Ultimate HumiliationThe reality of his destruction finally crashed down upon Adrian with the force of a tidal wave.

His knees buckled. He caught himself against the edge of the grand piano, his breath coming in ragged, shallow gasps. The invincible tech titan was gone; in his place stood a pathetic, cornered fraud, stripped of his wealth, his status, and his pride in front of the very people he had spent years trying to impress.

“Adrian...” Vanessa whimpered, her voice cracking as she took a cautious step away from him, her glamorous facade completely melted away. She looked at him not with love or loyalty, but with cold, calculating disgust. “What is she talking about? Are we... are we broke?”

Adrian didn't answer her. He couldn't. He was staring at me as if I were a ghost—a ghost he had tortured, beaten, and dragged across the floor just twenty minutes ago, now holding the leash of his entire existence.

Arthur Pendelton adjusted his cuffs, looking around the room with a disgusted shake of his head. He turned to his associates. “Well, gentlemen, it looks like the party is officially over. I wouldn’t invest a single dime in a man who doesn’t even own the pants he’s standing in.”

Within sixty seconds, the mass exodus began.

The Silicon Valley elite, who had been laughing and drinking just moments before, scrambled toward the double doors like rats fleeing a sinking ship. They avoided eye contact with Adrian entirely, brushing past him as if he carried a contagious disease.

Vanessa was one of the first to bolt. She snatched her designer handbag off the sofa, glared at Adrian with pure venom, and spat, “Don’t ever call my phone again, loser,” before storming out the door and slamming it behind her.

Adrian didn’t try to stop her. He didn't move at all. He just slid down the side of the piano, landing in a pathetic heap on the floor right beside the shattered glass of our wedding photo, his chest heaving with silent, helpless despair.

I walked slowly across the living room, my heels clicking softly against the floor. I stopped a few feet away from him, looking down at the man who had thought he could treat me like disposable trash.

“Get your things, Adrian,” I said softly, my voice carrying zero emotion. “You have thirty minutes to pack a single suitcase and vacate the premises. The locks are being changed at midnight.”

Adrian raised his head, his eyes bloodshot, streaming with humiliating tears. He looked up at me, his voice a broken, pathetic whisper. “Mara... please. We’re married. We have a family coming. Have mercy. Please don’t do this to me.”

I placed a protective hand over my belly, feeling the twin heartbeats kicking steadily against my palm.

“Mercy?” I whispered, leaning down slightly so only he could hear. “You dragged a high-risk pregnant woman across the hardwood floor tonight, Adrian. You risked my babies’ lives because you were annoyed by my existence.” I straightened up, my gaze hardening into steel. “That was your one bad day from disaster. And your disaster has only just begun.”
