At a follow-up hearing in family court two weeks later, the atmosphere was completely inverted.
Gavin arrived alone, without his fleet of high-priced attorneys. Philip Dane had withdrawn as counsel after realizing his client had committed perjury regarding corporate assets. Gavin sat alone at the defense table, his suit rumpled, his demeanor utterly broken.
Cassandra sat calmly with Arthur Pendelton.
"Your Honor," Pendelton announced, presenting a bound settlement agreement to Judge Beckett. "In light of the full asset verification and the ongoing forensic findings, Mr. Rourke has agreed to relinquish all claims to marital property, waive all rights to corporate stock, and sign a full consent decree regarding custody."
Judge Beckett looked at Gavin. "Mr. Rourke, do you understand the terms of this agreement? You are surrendering all claims to the Bethesda estate, the investment accounts, and sole custody requests."

"The court approves the agreement," Judge Beckett said, bringing her gavel down with a sharp, decisive strike. "Full legal and physical custody of Nolan and Parker Bellamy is awarded to Mrs. Bellamy. Mr. Rourke will be granted supervised visitation pending the outcome of the financial audits."
