Chapter 10 - Dawn of a New LifeThe sirens wailed in the distance, growing louder as multiple unmarked federal vehicles converged on the private tarmac of the city’s executive airport.

Through the live news feed streaming on my phone screen, I watched the cameras capture the dramatic spectacle unfold in real-time. Men in dark tactical gear swarmed the sleek private jet just as a handcuffed man in an expensive tailored suit was forced down the metal steps, his head ducked low beneath a dark trench coat, desperately trying to shield his face from the flashing cameras of the world he thought he had successfully escaped.

Adrian Vance was finally cornered, exposed, and stripped of everything he had stolen, manipulated, and built upon a mountain of deceit.

In the diner booth beside me, Lily leaned her head against my shoulder, finally looking relaxed, her small fingers wrapped securely around her stuffed rabbit.

"Are we safe now, Mommy?" she whispered softly, her eyes heavy with the sweet exhaustion of a long, terrifying night finally coming to an end.

I kissed the top of her head, wrapping my arms around her with a fierce, unbreakable love as the morning sun finally broke through the heavy gray clouds, casting a warm, golden light across the rain-washed streets outside.

"Yes, my sweet girl," I whispered, watching the dawn rise on a brand new world where no one would ever hurt us again. "We are completely safe. We're finally free."
