Chapter 7 - THE AUDIT AND THE BETRAYALThe dining room table was quickly cleared of breakfast plates and transformed into an impromptu war room. The two Interpol investigators opened their heavy leather briefcases, pulling out stacks of encrypted financial printouts, offshore bank routing numbers, and corporate registries.

Philippe slumped into a chair, looking like a man awaiting a death sentence. Hélène clutched his trembling hand, staring at my brother Tom with sheer terror.

Tom adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, scanning a multi-page financial ledger before looking up at Philippe with a cold, professional gaze.

"Fascinating setup, Monsieur Beaumont," Tom said, his voice echoing in the quiet room. "Shell companies registered in the Cayman Islands, hidden assets funneled through Luxembourg subsidiaries, and capital siphoned directly from European pension funds to finance your family’s private estate in Brussels. I must admit, the paperwork is quite sophisticated."

"It’s... it’s all legal! Standard tax optimization!" Philippe stammered, his voice cracking desperately.

"Tax optimization doesn't usually involve wire transfers to accounts flagged by Interpol for money laundering and international embezzlement," Tom replied smoothly, sliding a printed document across the table. "And what's even more fascinating... is that these accounts aren't even registered in your name, Philippe. They’re registered under a secondary holding entity."

Philippe’s face drained of every remaining drop of color. "No... that’s impossible. Only I have the master keys to—"

"Only you thought you had the master keys," a cool, unfamiliar voice interrupted from the doorway.

Everyone turned. Standing in the archway was a stunning woman in her early forties, wearing a sharp Chanel suit and holding a leather portfolio. It was Juliette Moreau, Philippe’s longtime chief financial officer and personal executive assistant, who had supposedly flown in from Brussels two days ago for 'vacation.'

Philippe stared at her in utter disbelief. "Juliette? What are you doing here? How did you get this address?"

Juliette didn't look at Philippe with fear or subservience. Instead, she looked at him with icy, unadulterated contempt. She walked over to the table, placed a thick manila folder right in front of Tom Vance-Hollis, and spoke in crisp, fluent French.

"Je suis désolée, Philippe, mais votre petit empire est terminé," Juliette said coolly. "For five years, I watched you steal from the pension funds, blame your subordinates, and treat everyone around you like disposable trash. When Ambassador Vance’s office contacted me last week with a subpoena and whistleblower protection guarantees, I didn't hesitate for a second."

Philippe leaped out of his chair, lunging toward her in a blind fury. "You treacherous bitch! You sold me out!"

Before Philippe could take two steps, Tom’s two associates stepped forward with lightning speed, pinning Philippe’s arms behind his back and pressing him gently back into his chair with professional efficiency.

"Control yourself, Monsieur Beaumont," Tom warned calmly. "Assaulting a federal witness in the presence of international law enforcement will only add another ten years to your impending sentence."

"Continue to Part 8 to witness the total collapse of the Beaumont empire—and the unexpected twist involving Luca’s true heritage."
