Chapter 9 - The Matriarch's FallA single bullet shattered the glass window, striking my mother in the shoulder. She screamed, dropping the gun and collapsing to the floor.

I looked toward the deck. Standing there, holding a smoking sniper rifle she must have taken from a downed guard, was Julieta. Her wedding dress was torn, smeared with grease, and she looked like an absolute goddess of vengeance.

The police swarmed the yacht. Sirens wailed, boats surrounded the harbor, and heavy boots stomped down the stairs. Volkov and his men, realizing they were outgunned, threw down their weapons.

"It's over," Paula breathed, dropping to her knees and hugging Mateo and Leo so tightly she was crying. I joined the embrace, burying my face in my sons' hair. They were safe.

Medics loaded my bleeding, screaming mother onto a stretcher. Efraín and Tomás were dragged away in handcuffs, their faces pale with the realization that their lives of luxury were permanently over. They would rot in federal prison for conspiracy, kidnapping, and treason against the company.

Julieta walked into the room, dropping the rifle. I ran to her, wrapping my arms around her waist, mindful of the baby.

"You saved us," I whispered, kissing her forehead. "You saved our family."

"I told you," she smiled, her eyes glittering. "I check every number."

A week later, the storm had passed. The media had a field day with the "Zombie Matriarch" and the corporate espionage. But inside our quiet penthouse, it was peaceful. I was sitting at my desk, signing the final legal documents.

I was transferring 100% of my company assets, the entire 500 million dollar trust, into Julieta's name. It was the ultimate way to protect it. No one could ever touch it again.

"All done," I smiled, handing her the golden pen. "It's all yours, my love."

Julieta took the pen. She looked at the documents, then at me. And slowly, her warm, loving smile began to change.

It stretched into a chilling, triumphant smirk.
