Chapter 7 - THE RECKONING AT THE REGISTRYWith Parker behind bars and the shell company frozen by federal regulators, the legal fight for full restoration of my property rights moved with lightning speed.

Three days after the court hearing, I stood inside the County Land Registry Office alongside the Chief Registrar and a team of forensic title auditors.
The fake second mortgage Parker had secretly taken out using my home as collateral? Declared null and void due to forged spousal signatures and wire fraud.
The fraudulent deed transfer that would have added Parker’s and Alana’s names to the title? Expunged from the county records with a permanent judicial injunction preventing any future liens by Parker or his associates.
As the registrar stamped the final document—a certified, gold-embossed deed proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that the estate belonged one hundred percent to Clarissa Vance, sole proprietor—I let out a breath I felt like I had been holding for five years.
"Congratulations, Mrs. Vance," the registrar smiled warmly, sliding the heavy leather folder across the mahogany counter. "Your property is completely clean. Every fraudulent lien has been wiped from the public ledger."
I picked up the folder and walked out of the government building into the bright afternoon sunlight.
Waiting for me on the stone steps was Dustin, holding hands with a trusted family friend who had looked after him during the legal proceedings, and our golden retriever, Buster, who was barking happily and wagging his tail so hard his entire back end shook.
Dustin ran up to me, throwing his arms around my waist.
"Mom! Did we win? Is the bad house paper gone forever?"
I knelt down, wrapping my arms around my brave little boy, burying my face in his soft hair.
"We won, buddy," I whispered, tears of relief finally spilling over my lashes. "Nobody is ever going to make you sit in the corner again. This is our home, and nobody can ever take it away from us."
Dustin beamed, holding up his old tablet proudly. "Good thing I kept recording, right?"
May you like
"The best thing in the world," I laughed, kissing his forehead.
But as sweet as the legal victory felt, the war wasn't completely over yet. Because while Parker was sitting in a jail cell, waiting for a trial that would likely land him in federal prison for a decade, Alana and Ellie still had one final, desperate card left to play—and they were about to play it from the inside.
