CHAPTER 3 — "She Ordered Me Out of 'Her' Mansion… Then the Security Chief Refused to Obey Her."

The ballroom was dead silent.

Margaret's breathing became heavier with every passing second.

Then suddenly—

She laughed.

A loud, forced, almost desperate laugh.

"This is ridiculous!" she shouted. "Do you really expect anyone to believe this little fairy tale?"

She pointed directly at me.

"That girl couldn't afford the shoes she's wearing six months ago! And now you're saying she owns Harrington Estates?"

Several of her friends nodded, eager to believe her.

"There must be forged documents."

"This has to be some kind of scam."

Margaret smiled again, convinced she had regained control.

"Call security."

Within seconds, two security officers approached.

Margaret folded her arms triumphantly.

"Escort these people out immediately."

She pointed at my parents.

"And take her with them."

The officers exchanged uncertain glances.

Before either of them could move, another voice interrupted.

"Nobody is leaving."

The ballroom doors opened once more.

A tall man in a dark navy suit stepped inside.

Everyone recognized him instantly.

Victor Lawson.

The longtime Chief of Corporate Security for Harrington Estates.

He had protected the Harrington family for nearly twenty-five years and had been fiercely loyal to the company.

Margaret smiled in relief.

"Victor! Perfect timing."

She walked toward him confidently.

"Remove these people."

Victor didn't move.

Instead, he slowly walked past her.

Straight toward me.

Then...

To everyone's astonishment...

He stopped in front of me.

Lowered his head respectfully.

And said,

"Good evening, Madam Chairwoman."

The room erupted into shocked whispers.

Margaret's smile disappeared.

"What... did you just call her?"

Victor calmly turned toward Margaret.

"My instructions came directly from the Board this morning."

He removed a sealed envelope from his briefcase.

"I've also been instructed to collect all company-issued property from former executive Margaret Harrington."

Her face froze.

"What property?"

"The executive access cards."

"The company vehicle."

"The penthouse office keys."

"And the mansion."

Silence.

"What mansion?" Margaret whispered.

Victor answered without emotion.

"The Harrington Estate has been owned by the company for decades."

He looked directly into my eyes.

"The new Chairwoman now controls every corporate asset."

Margaret staggered backward.

"No..."

"No..."

"This is MY home!"

Victor quietly shook his head.

"It never legally belonged to you."

Daniel looked at his mother in disbelief.

"You told me Grandpa left everything to us."

Margaret couldn't answer.

She simply stared at the floor.

Then Victor spoke again.

"There is... one more matter."

His voice suddenly became much colder.

"The Board discovered financial irregularities involving company accounts."

Every executive in the ballroom stiffened.

Margaret slowly looked up.

"What are you talking about?"

Victor placed another folder on the table.

"The internal audit has begun."

"And unfortunately..."

He paused.

"...your signature appears on every questionable transfer."

The smile vanished from Margaret's face.

May you like

For the first time that night...

She looked genuinely terrified.
