Chapter 10 - A New DawnSix months later.

The autumn leaves were turning a brilliant shade of amber and gold across the sprawling private estate of Sterling Manor.

I stood on the wide stone veranda, holding my son—now a lively, bright-eyed infant babbling happily at the passing birds—while the morning breeze caught the hem of my emerald-silk dress.

My phone buzzed in my pocket.

I pulled it out and glanced at the screen. It was an automated news alert from a local digital tabloid:

“FALL FROM GRACE: Former Socialite Chloe Miller Works Minimum-Wage Retail Job After Multi-Million-Dollar Wedding Scandal and Family Bankruptcy.”

Below the headline was a grainy paparazzi photo of Chloe—dressed in a plain, faded uniform, pushing a broom outside a discount grocery store, her face gaunt, defeated, and stripped of every ounce of the arrogance she once wore like armor.

I stared at the screen for a moment, feeling neither anger nor pity. Just a profound, liberating sense of closure.

The chapter was closed. The ghosts of my past were gone, swept away by their own greed and malice.

"Who's that, little guy?" I whispered, kissing the top of my son's soft brown hair as he reached out with both hands to grab a falling autumn leaf.

Just then, my father stepped out onto the veranda, holding two cups of steaming coffee, the morning sun sparkling off the manicured gardens behind us. He handed me a cup and smiled warmly.

"Ready for the board meeting today, CEO Sterling?" he teased gently.

I took a sip of the rich, warm coffee, feeling the absolute strength of my own independence, my family, and my future surging through my veins.

"Always, Dad," I smiled, stepping out into the bright morning light. "Always."
