Chapter 8 - The Grand ExitThe police officers moved quickly through the ballroom.

Amanda was led away in handcuffs, still weeping hysterically and screaming Chloe's name in betrayal. Eleanor was escorted out next, her face burning with public shame as two hundred society guests—people who had spent years looking down on me—stared at her with undisguised disgust and contempt.

Chloe was left standing alone in the center of the massive, ruined ballroom, her expensive wedding dress trailing in the spilled champagne, her dream of high-society luxury completely turned to ash.

She looked around the room, realizing that every single person had abandoned her. Even her new husband was sobbing pathetically on the floor a few feet away.

"Vivienne..." Chloe whispered, her voice cracking as she took a desperate, unsteady step toward me. "Please... don't do this. We can talk..."

I didn't even acknowledge her. I didn't break stride or look back.

My father offered me his arm, and I took it, resting my other hand gently against my growing belly.

"Let's go home, sweetheart," my father said softly, a warm, proud smile touching his lips. "Your nursery still needs finishing, and you've had a very long evening."

"Lead the way, Dad," I replied.

As we walked down the grand center aisle—the very same aisle where Chloe had walked earlier to claim her perfect fairy-tale wedding—the crowd parted instantly. Not a single person whispered. Not a single person laughed. They stood in breathless, reverent silence as the true heiress of the room walked out into the cool night air.

Behind us, the heavy mahogany doors closed shut, sealing away the wreckage of a family built on lies, arrogance, and cruelty.
