Chapter 8 - THE ULTIMATE JUDGMENTMargaret turned back to the podium and looked directly at the banking board members and the federal prosecutors.

"My children Christopher and Victoria shall not face criminal prosecution," Margaret announced, her voice echoing through the silent amphitheater. "Instead, under the authority vested in me as the sole owner and majority shareholder of Vance Global Assets and the banking syndicate..."
She paused, locking eyes with her eldest son.
"...they are hereby stripped of every corporate title, every luxury vehicle, every real estate deed, and every penny of personal wealth they possess. Their bank accounts will be completely zeroed out, and their mansions will be converted into emergency shelters for the homeless and destitute elderly."
Christopher leaped to his feet, screaming in absolute horror. "No! You can't leave us with nothing! How are we supposed to live?! Where are we going to go?!"
"You can go wherever you want," Margaret replied coldly, signaling the guards. "You have your health, your education, and your two hands. Exactly what you expected me to survive on when you closed your doors in my face."
The marshals grabbed Christopher and Victoria, hauling them kicking and screaming out of the grand amphitheater as the flashbulbs exploded around them like rolling thunder.
The crowd erupted into whispers and applause. The mighty had fallen. The outcast had reclaimed her throne.
Arthur Sterling bowed deeply to Margaret, handing her the master key to the bank’s executive vault.
"What are your orders, Madam Chairman?" Arthur asked.
Margaret looked down at the key, then turned to look at Patrick, Samantha, and little Samuel, who were standing proudly at the edge of the stage.
"First," Margaret said with a warm, radiant smile, "we buy Patrick and his family a real home. A home with a big backyard, a warm kitchen, and a bedroom for every child who needs one."

"And second?" Arthur asked.
"We open the doors," Margaret said, her eyes shining with tears of triumph. "For every single person this city threw away."
