She gave me my IV at 11:15 PM, and when my fever spiked to 104, my daddy stayed beside my bed holding an ice pack to my forehead until 4:00 AM.” / Chapter 7 / 8

Chapter 7 - Fall of the Empire

Judge Harrison picked up his gavel with a firm, steady hand. He looked down at Lucas Albright, whose wrists were still bound in steel cuffs.

“In the case of the State of Illinois versus Lucas Albright,” Judge Harrison declared, his voice echoing with absolute authority, “this court finds that the defendant was maliciously framed through criminal conspiracy, evidence tampering, and official misconduct. All charges against Lucas Albright are DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE!”

BANG!

The gavel struck the sounding block like a thunderclap.

“Bailiff, remove those handcuffs immediately!” Harrison ordered.

The bailiff rushed forward, unlocked the cuffs, and stepped back. Lucas dropped to his knees, wrapping his arms around Isabelle, pulling her close as he sobbed uncontrollably into her shoulder. Isabelle wrapped her arms around her father’s neck, squeezing him tight.

“I got you, Daddy,” she whispered. “I got you.”

The courtroom burst into a deafening roar of applause. Spectators stood up, cheering and crying.

At the prosecution table, Andrew Vale attempted to sneak out through a side door, but two heavy-set federal marshals intercepted him, slamming him against the wall and clicking handcuffs onto his wrists.

“Andrew Vale, you are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder, obstruction of justice, and judicial bribery,” the marshal announced loudly.

Simultaneously, four marshals surrounded Marcus Sterling at the witness stand. Sterling shouted for his lawyers, but his counsel turned their backs, refusing to touch the toxic corporate mess.

“Marcus Sterling,” the lead agent declared, “you are under arrest for the murder of Dr. Sarah Albright, attempted murder of Judge Daniel Harrison, wire fraud, and grand larceny.”
