CHAPTER 1: THE LIONS OF THE SAVANNAH

Twenty-six-year-old Emily Carter had always believed that protecting wildlife was more than a job—it was a calling.

For three years, she had patrolled the vast African savannah as a ranger, risking her safety to defend animals from those who saw them only as profit.

Most poachers feared the law.

But one man feared nothing.

His name was Victor Kane.

For months, he and his gang had slaughtered elephants, rhinos, and rare predators, selling their body parts on the black market for millions of dollars.

The reserve had tried everything to catch him.

Nothing worked.

Until Emily found him.

One hot afternoon, she spotted a suspicious truck crossing a protected zone.

Following it through the grasslands, she secretly filmed Victor's men loading elephant tusks and leopard skins into crates.

The evidence was devastating.

Days later, authorities raided multiple warehouses.

Millions of dollars worth of illegal wildlife products were seized.

Victor lost everything.

But he escaped.

And before disappearing, he made a promise.

A promise that chilled everyone who heard it.

"I'll make her pay."

A month later, Emily thought the danger had passed.

She was wrong.

During a routine patrol, her SUV suddenly stalled.

The engine died.

The radio failed.

And before she could react, five armed men emerged from the tall grass.

Victor had been waiting.

Emily fought.

She kicked.

She screamed.

But they overpowered her.

Hours later, they dragged her deep into an isolated section of the savannah.

There stood an ancient tree.

Alone.

Far from civilization.

Victor tied her tightly against the trunk.

His smile was colder than death.

"You destroyed my empire," he whispered.

"Now nature will destroy you."

The men drove away laughing.

Their vehicle vanished beyond the horizon.

Silence settled over the savannah.

Emily struggled desperately against the ropes.

The sun began to set.

Darkness spread across the endless grasslands.

Then came the sounds.

Growls.

Movement.

Heavy footsteps.

Fear consumed her.

Finally, unable to bear it anymore, she screamed for help.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Then the impossible happened.

Lions appeared.

One emerged from the grass.

Then another.

Then five more.

An entire pride surrounded the clearing.

At their head stood a massive male lion with a dark black mane.

The giant predator walked directly toward her.

Closer.

Closer.

Closer.

Emily closed her eyes.

Certain she was about to die.

But instead of attacking...

The lion gently rubbed his enormous head against her shoulder.

Emily's eyes flew open.

She couldn't believe what she was seeing.

The lion knew her.

And she knew him.

"Leo..." she whispered.

It was the lion she had saved two years earlier.

The same lion who had nearly died after poachers left him trapped in a steel snare.

The lion stared into her eyes.

And then he did something even more shocking.

He roared.

The entire pride instantly sprang into action.

As if obeying a command.

And somewhere in the darkness...

May you like

Victor Kane's men suddenly began screaming.

The hunt had begun.
