CHAPTER 6 — THE HUNTER BECOMES THE HUNTED

Marcus waited until Lawson left.
Then he locked his office door.
His hands trembled as he copied the maintenance video onto a small flash drive.
"This changes everything."
He slipped the drive into his jacket.
The lights suddenly shut off.
Darkness swallowed the room.
A single gunshot shattered the silence.
BANG!
The office window exploded.
Marcus dove behind his desk.
Another shot.
Glass rained across the floor.
Someone was trying to kill him.
He crawled toward the back exit.
Outside...
A black SUV waited with its engine running.
Three masked men stepped out carrying suppressed rifles.
Marcus sprinted through the alley.
Bullets struck the brick walls inches from his head.
He barely escaped by diving into a passing delivery truck.
The driver slammed on the brakes.
"What the—?"
Marcus flashed his badge.
"Drive! NOW!"
The truck sped away.
Behind them, the black SUV disappeared into traffic.
Marcus finally looked inside his jacket.
The flash drive...
Was gone.
His face turned pale.
Someone had taken it during the chase.
...
At that same moment...
Inside the abandoned warehouse...
Adrian watched the news.
Every television channel was broadcasting Daniel's recorded confession.
"Bank Murder Suspect Officially Confesses."
The public exploded with outrage.
People demanded the death penalty.
Daniel closed his eyes in despair.
"It's over."
Adrian laughed.
"No, Daniel."
He reached into a drawer and pulled out another silicone mask.
This one...
Was Detective Marcus Hale's face.
Daniel stared in horror.
"What are you planning?"
Adrian slowly put on the mask.
His transformation was almost flawless.
Then he smiled.
"Now I'm going to murder someone..."
"...as the detective who's trying to save you."
Daniel's blood ran cold.
He finally understood the true plan.
Adrian wasn't just destroying one innocent man.
May you like
He was about to destroy everyone who could prove the truth.
