Chapter 6 - The Fall of the Titan

Paola fell to her knees on the black marble floor, her high heels buckling beneath her. The reality of her utter destruction crashed down upon her. She had not only failed her family, but she had also walked straight into a trap meticulously laid by a woman she had dismissed as a weak, helpless housewife.
At that exact moment, the glass doors of the conference room burst open.
Four armed agents from the Federal Police, accompanied by two representatives from the Attorney General’s Office, stepped inside.
"Paola Riva?" the lead agent demanded, pulling out an official arrest warrant. "You are under arrest for corporate espionage, grand embezzlement, bank fraud, and conspiracy to commit attempted murder via medical negligence."
Paola let out a blood-curdling scream as the cold steel handcuffs clicked around her manicured wrists. She thrashed against the agents, screaming insults at Valeria, her tears streaking makeup across her face as she was forcefully dragged out of the 45th-floor conference room, her cries echoing down the marble hallway until they finally vanished into the elevator shaft.
Silence returned to Conference Room Three.
Arturo, Alejandro's lawyer, quietly packed his briefcase, whispered a swift apology, and practically sprinted out of the room, leaving his client entirely alone.
Alejandro sat frozen in his chair, his head buried in his hands. The powerful billionaire who had walked into this room hours ago with his mistress by his side was now completely broken. He had lost his company. He had lost his reputation. He had lost his fortune. And worst of all, he had realized the incredible magnitude of the woman he had discarded.
Slowly, Alejandro raised his head. Tears were streaming down his face as he looked at Valeria.
"Valeria..." he begged, his voice cracking with pure agony. "Please... I was blind. I was foolish. I was poisoned by her lies. I know I don't deserve your forgiveness... but please... let me be a father to our son. Let me fix this. I'll give up the company. I'll do anything. Just don't take my family away from me."
Valeria looked down at him. There was no anger left in her eyes. No malice. Only the quiet, unyielding strength of a mother who had survived the storm.
"You lost your family the day you let her block my calls at the hospital, Alejandro," Valeria said softly. "You chose luxury over loyalty. You chose vanity over love. And now, you must live with the choices you made."
She reached down and picked up the baby carrier. Little Mateo yawned, stretching his tiny fingers against the warm navy-blue blanket.

"Mr. Garza has prepared the final divorce papers," Valeria said, pointing to a single sheet of paper remaining on the mahogany table. "Sign them, Alejandro. If you sign them now, I will instruct my legal team not to press criminal charges against you for the tax discrepancies. You won't go to prison. You will be allowed to rebuild your life from scratch. But you will leave this building with nothing."
Alejandro stared at the pen resting on the paper. His hand trembled as he picked it up. He knew he had no leverage. He had no power. He signed his name on the dotted line, his tears smudging the fresh ink.
