SHE BROUGHT CHOCOLATES TO SURPRISE HER HUSBAND... THEN A SECURITY GUARD EXPOSED THE DOUBLE LIFE HE HAD HIDDEN FOR 15 YEARS CHAPTER 2 – THE WOMAN WHO STOLE HER NAME

"Ma'am... you need to hide."
Ricardo's whisper barely reached Elena's ears.
She stood frozen, unable to move, her heartbeat pounding so loudly it drowned out every other sound in the lobby.
Hide?
From her own husband?
Nothing about that sentence made sense.
Yet the fear in Ricardo's eyes was real.
Not the fear of losing a job.
The fear of someone who already knew how dangerous the truth could be.
Without another word, he gently guided Elena behind a large marble column beside the reception desk.
"Please," he whispered. "Don't let him see you. Not yet."
Before Elena could ask why...
The elevator doors opened again.
Out stepped Jorge Monteiro.
The same gray suit he had worn that morning.
The same expensive watch.
The same leather briefcase.
The same man who had kissed her goodbye only a few hours earlier.
Except...
This Jorge looked different.
His shoulders were relaxed.
His smile was genuine.
His eyes were alive.
Elena couldn't remember the last time he had smiled like that at home.
Then she saw why.
The elegant woman in the ivory suit returned through the revolving door carrying two cups of coffee.
Jorge walked straight toward her.
Without hesitation...
He wrapped one arm around her waist.
She kissed him.
Not politely.
Not awkwardly.
Like a wife greeting the man she loved.
The lobby staff barely looked up.
To them...
It was completely normal.
Elena felt as if the floor had disappeared beneath her.
She wanted to scream.
She wanted to run.
Instead...
She watched.
Because something felt even more wrong than the kiss itself.
Jorge looked... comfortable.
Too comfortable.
Not like a man hiding an affair.
Like a man living his real life.
The woman laughed softly.
"I almost forgot."
"I confirmed dinner for Saturday."
"The anniversary speech starts at eight."
Jorge smiled.
"Perfect."
"We've waited fifteen years for this celebration."
Fifteen years.
The number echoed inside Elena's mind.
Fifteen years.
Exactly the same amount of time Ricardo had said the other woman had been coming to the building.
How could someone replace a wife...
For fifteen years...
Without anyone noticing?
Or had everyone noticed...
Except her?
Ricardo quietly handed Elena a bottle of water.
She couldn't stop shaking.
"I'm sorry," he said.
"I thought you already knew."
"Knew what?"
His face tightened.
"I've worked here eighteen years."
"When I started..."
"You were never the one who came to company events."
"I assumed Mr. Monteiro had remarried before I joined."
Elena stared at him.
"Remarried?"
"My husband never divorced me."
Ricardo slowly nodded.
"I believe you."
"But everyone here thinks Mrs. Monteiro is the woman you just saw."
He hesitated.
"She signs documents."
"She attends executive meetings."
"She hosts charity events."
"She's introduced as his wife everywhere."
Every word felt like another knife.
How could an entire corporation believe another woman was married to her husband?
Unless...
Someone had deliberately erased her.
Suddenly Jorge's voice echoed across the lobby.
"Ricardo."
The guard stiffened.
Jorge was walking toward the security desk.
Only a few meters away.
Elena pressed herself against the marble pillar, barely breathing.
"Everything alright?" Jorge asked.
"Yes, sir."
"No visitors?"
Ricardo forced a smile.
"Nothing unusual today."
Jorge nodded.
Then something caught his attention.
The crushed box of chocolates lying near the reception desk.
He frowned.
"Who dropped those?"
Ricardo answered instantly.
"A delivery driver, sir."
Jorge barely looked at them.
"What a waste."
He turned away.
Three simple words.
What a waste.
Not once...
Did he imagine those chocolates had been bought by the woman who had shared his home for forty years.
Not once...
Did he look around for Elena.
He simply walked away with the other Mrs. Monteiro.
Laughing together.
Planning their anniversary celebration.
As the revolving doors closed behind them...
Elena finally broke.
Silent tears rolled down her face.
Not because she had seen her husband kiss another woman.
But because she realized...
He hadn't even recognized the possibility that she could be standing there.
As if she no longer existed.
Several minutes passed before Ricardo spoke again.
"There may be something you should see."
He glanced toward the security office.
"I could lose my job for this."
"But after today..."
"I don't think I can stay silent anymore."
He unlocked a small metal cabinet.
Inside were years of archived visitor logs.
Boxes carefully labeled by year.
He pulled out one marked:
2011.
The year everything had changed.
From inside the folder...
He removed a faded security badge application.
Employee Family Access.
Attached to it was a photograph.
Ricardo handed it to Elena.
Her hands trembled as she looked down.
It wasn't the younger woman.
It wasn't Jorge.
It wasn't anyone she recognized.
It was...
Her own photograph.
The exact same picture she had taken for her passport fifteen years earlier.
But beneath it...
Someone had written one sentence in red ink.
ACCESS REVOKED – DO NOT ADMIT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
Elena's blood ran cold.
She had never worked there.
She had never applied for an access badge.
She had never even visited the building.
So who had created the file?
And why had someone ordered security to keep the real Mrs. Monteiro away from her own husband's office?
Before Elena could ask another question...
Ricardo opened a second folder.
His face turned pale.
"This..."
he whispered.
"I've never noticed this before."
Inside was another application.
Approved.
Stamped.
Authorized.
Mrs. Sofia Monteiro.
Wife of Jorge Monteiro.
The attached photograph...
Wasn't the woman Elena had just seen.
It was taken fifteen years earlier.
And it showed a completely different face.
A third woman.
Someone who had disappeared without a trace.
Ricardo looked at Elena with growing horror.
"This isn't an affair..."
he said quietly.
"It's something much bigger."
Someone...
Had been replacing Mrs. Monteiro.
Again.
And again.
May you like
And again.
