Chapter 3 - The Cold-Blooded Walk Down the Aisle That Terrified the Groom

The church bells of the hacienda chapel began to chime. The heavy iron gates opened, and hundreds of elite guests took their seats.
Don Arturo and Doña Elena sat at the front row, looking like royalty. Alejandro stood at the altar, adjusting his silk bowtie, a smug, victorious grin plastered across his face. He thought he had won. He thought the quiet, sweet girl from the suburbs was officially under his thumb.
The music shifted to the traditional bridal march. The heavy wooden doors opened.
When Carmen appeared, a collective gasp rippled through the crowd. She looked stunning, but something was deeply unsettling. She wasn't smiling. Her face was a mask of absolute, chilling serenity. She didn't look like a nervous bride; she looked like an executioner walking toward the scaffold.
And she wasn't alone.
Breaking all traditions of high-society weddings, Carmen refused to walk down the aisle with a hired escort or alone. Instead, she had walked all the way to the back of the venue, grabbed her mother and father by their hands, and forced them to walk down the aisle with her—one on each side.
Her parents looked confused and embarrassed, wearing their simple, off-the-rack outfits, but Carmen held onto them with a grip of steel.
As they walked down the aisle, Doña Elena’s face turned an ugly shade of purple. She fiercely signaled to the wedding planners to stop them, but Valeria blocked the planners, glaring them down.
Alejandro’s smile vanished. His jaw tightened as Carmen reached the altar, flanked by her working-class parents.
"What are you doing?" Alejandro hissed under his breath, his eyes darting to the whispers breaking out among the wealthy guests. "Are you trying to ruin my life? Tell them to go sit down!"
Carmen didn't answer him. Instead, she turned to the priest. "Father, before we begin, there is a serious error that needs to be corrected. A wedding cannot proceed without honor."
The priest, startled, nodded slowly. "Of course, child. What is it?"
Carmen turned around to face the entire congregation. She took the wireless microphone right out of the priest's hand. The wedding coordinator tried to step forward to cut the audio, but Valeria stood at the soundboard, holding a heavy metal stanchion, threatening to smash the equipment if anyone touched the volume.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Carmen’s voice echoed powerfully through the stone chapel, crisp and clear. "Welcome to the wedding of the century. Before we exchange vows, I want to publicly recognize the people who made this day possible. The people who represent true dignity."
She pointed directly at the front row, where Alejandro's parents sat.
"Don Arturo and Doña Elena de la Vega believe that wealth defines a human being. They believe that working people are invisible. Today, they tried to hide my parents by the trash cans and the kitchen doors, hoping none of you would see them."
A loud, shocked murmur erupted through the crowd. The politicians and judges began whispering furiously.
"Carmen! Shut up right now!" Alejandro roared, lunging forward to grab the microphone from her hand.
But Carmen stepped back, and before Alejandro could touch her, his eyes locked onto the giant projector screen behind the altar—the one meant to show a romantic slideshow of their childhood photos.

The screen flashed to life. But it wasn't a photo of a happy couple.
It was a giant, high-definition screenshot of the “The De la Vega Legacy” WhatsApp group chat, detailing the plot to humiliate her parents and steal their land.
