Chapter 5 - The Ultimate Reversal: "Pack Your Bags and Get Off My Land!"

The humiliation was absolute. The wealthy guests, realizing they were sitting in the middle of a massive corporate fraud and a public scandal, began scrambling to leave. Politicians and judges rushed to the exits, desperately trying to distance themselves from the De la Vega family before the press caught wind of the situation.
Alejandro fell to his knees on the altar, staring at the floor. His family's empire, built on a house of cards and intimidation, had just collapsed in front of the entire elite class of Mexico.
"Carmen... please," Alejandro begged, reaching out to grab the hem of her dress. "I love you. We can fix this. Don't do this to my family."
Carmen looked down at him with nothing but pure pity. "You don't love me, Alejandro. You loved the idea of a naive wife who would look pretty while your family stole from her. You can keep your ring."
She slipped the multi-carat diamond ring off her finger and dropped it onto the floor right in front of him. It bounced with a hollow, pathetic sound.
Doña Elena rushed up the altar steps, her elegant facade completely shattered. She looked like a wild animal cornered in a cage. "You ungrateful little brat! You think you can throw us out? We made you! We gave you social standing!"
"My standing comes from my education and my parents' honest work," Carmen replied calmly.
Suddenly, the heavy wooden doors of the chapel burst open again. This time, it wasn't a guest. It was four uniformed police officers, accompanied by a representative from the State Prosecutor’s Office.
Valeria walked out of the AV booth, smiling grimly. "The police are here, Carmen. Just like you requested."
The prosecutor walked down the aisle, completely ignoring the ruined wedding decorations, and stopped right in front of Don Arturo and Alejandro.
"Arturo de la Vega, Alejandro de la Vega," the prosecutor announced loudly. "You are under arrest for corporate fraud, attempted asset theft, and bank forgery, based on evidence submitted to our office early this morning by Miss Carmen Morales."
Handcuffs clicked loudly in the quiet chapel. The sound echoed like thunder.
Don Arturo screamed obscenities as he was led away. Doña Elena fainted onto the stone floor, her expensive designer dress dragging in the dirt, completely ignored by the fleeing guests. Alejandro looked back at Carmen one last time, his eyes pleading, but she had already turned her back on him.

Carmen walked over to her parents, who were standing in shock. She took her mother's shaking hands and kissed them.
"I'm sorry you had to see that, Mama, Papa," Carmen said softly, the coldness vanishing from her voice, replaced with deep warmth. "But nobody will ever make you feel invisible again." Her father, tears streaming down his weathered cheeks, hugged her tightly. "We are so proud of you, mija. You have your grandmother's strength."
