Chapter 4 - The 60-Second Video Screened in Public That Ruined a Million-Dollar Dynasty

The chapel fell into a dead, horrifying silence.
Every single guest stared at the massive screen. The text messages were clear as day. Doña Elena’s words calling Carmen’s parents "bakers who belong in the dirt" and Alejandro’s admission of plotting to legally steal their land were on full display for the highest authorities of the state to read.
"My God," a prominent judge in the second row murmured, looking at Don Arturo with utter disgust.
Doña Elena stood up, her expensive diamond necklace shaking violently against her throat. "This is a lie! It’s a fabrication! Security, turn that off! Turn it off now!"
But Valeria had locked the AV booth door from the inside. The screen didn't turn off. In fact, it transitioned to the next slide: a scanned copy of the fraudulent real estate contract Alejandro’s lawyers had tried to slip into Carmen’s pre-nuptial paperwork earlier that week.
Alejandro’s face drained of all color. He looked at Carmen, his eyes wide with a mixture of rage and terror. "Carmen... please. We can talk about this. It was a joke. A misunderstanding!"
"A misunderstanding?" Carmen smiled, a cold, sharp expression that made Alejandro take a step back. "You thought I was weak because I am quiet. You thought my family was disposable because we don't have a corrupt last name. But you forgot one thing, Alejandro."
She took a step closer to him, the microphone right at her lips so every whisper was amplified.
"I am a top-tier corporate lawyer. I read every single line of the fine print. I knew what your family was planning the moment your lawyers sent over the revised property deeds three days ago. This wedding wasn't my blind walk into your trap. It was your public trial."
Don Arturo stood up, trying to maintain his powerful aura, though his voice trembled with rage. "Young lady, you have no idea who you are dealing with. We can ruin your family by tomorrow morning! You will leave this estate with nothing!"
"Actually, Don Arturo," Carmen turned her gaze to the old billionaire, completely unfazed. "You are the ones leaving with nothing. You see, this beautiful hacienda we are standing in? The one your family claims to own?"
Carmen gestured to Valeria, who pushed a button on the soundboard. A new document appeared on the screen. It was a certified land deed dated just 24 hours ago.
"The De la Vega corporation defaulted on their bank loans for this property last month," Carmen announced to the stunned crowd. "They masked it to keep up appearances for this wedding. Yesterday morning, using the investment capital from my law firm’s senior partners and my own savings... I bought the debt. I bought this hacienda."
The crowd erupted into chaotic gasps.
Carmen looked directly at Alejandro's mother. "Doña Elena, you wanted my parents out of your sight? You wanted them by the back door? Well, I have good news for you."

Carmen unpinned her beautiful, expensive veil and let it drop carelessly to the stone floor.
"This is my property now. And you are all trespassing."
