CHAPTER 3 – THE MAN WHO STOOD SILENT WAS THE REAL MONSTER

Isabella’s hands shook as she stared at the DNA report.
The ballroom was dead silent.
Her father had just been arrested.
Her wedding was destroyed.
And now one final secret was burning in her hands.
She wasn’t Richard Hartwell’s daughter.
The groom stepped closer.
“Isabella… who is your real father?”
Before she could answer, the elderly maid turned toward the crowd.
Her eyes stopped on one man.
A respected judge.
A family friend.
The man who had smiled through every birthday, every charity gala, every funeral.
Judge Malcolm Vance.
His face lost all color.
Isabella whispered, “No…”
The maid’s voice trembled.
“Your mother trusted him. He promised to protect her. But he sold her location to Richard.”
Malcolm backed away.
“That woman is lying!”
Then the young man who delivered the envelope played a recording.
A woman’s weak voice filled the ballroom.
Isabella’s mother.
“If my daughter ever hears this… Malcolm Vance is her father. And if anything happens to me, he helped them do it.”
Guests gasped.
Isabella slowly walked toward the judge.
“You watched me grow up…”
“You came to my mother’s funeral…”
“You let me call you uncle.”
Malcolm tried to speak, but no words came out.
Then Isabella removed her wedding veil and dropped it on the floor.
The bride everyone admired was gone.
In her place stood a woman reborn by pain.
She turned to the maid.
“What was my mother’s final wish?”
The old woman held her hand.
“That you would stop running from their lies.”
Isabella faced the cameras.
“My wedding is over.”
Then she looked at Malcolm.
“But the truth has just begun.”
And as police moved toward the judge…
The groom suddenly grabbed Isabella’s arm and whispered,
“Don’t do this.”
She froze.
