CHAPTER 2 — The Man Who Refused to Die
Victoria's fake tears vanished the instant she heard the helicopter.
Michael looked up.
His face turned white.
The aircraft hovered directly above the cliff.
A rescue cable dropped toward the gorge.
"Impossible..." Michael whispered.
"No one survives that fall."
Victoria grabbed his arm.
"Stay calm."
"It changes nothing."
But below them...
Richard hadn't fallen into the river.
Months earlier, after discovering the murder plot, Richard had quietly contacted a private security company owned by a former military commander.
Every detail of the trip had been monitored.
Hidden drones.
Emergency divers.
A helicopter waiting beyond the mountain ridge.
The moment Michael pushed the wheelchair...
The rescue operation began.
The wheelchair crashed onto hidden safety nets installed overnight by Richard's team before rolling toward a lower rock ledge.
Richard had expected everything.

Except how much it would hurt to hear his wife order his death without hesitation.
Inside the helicopter...
A medic examined him.
"You're safe."
Richard stared silently toward the cliff.
"I wasn't trying to save my life."
"I wanted to save the truth."
Meanwhile...
Police officers arrived.
Victoria collapsed dramatically into an officer's arms.
"My husband slipped..."
"It happened so fast..."
Michael repeated the same story.
They believed they had won.
Until another helicopter landed.
Out stepped Richard's lawyer.
And behind him...
Detectives from the Financial Crimes Unit.
The lawyer calmly handed Victoria an envelope.
She opened it.
Her smile disappeared instantly.
Inside was Richard's new will.
Every company...

Gone.
Nothing belonged to her anymore.
"What is this?"
The lawyer answered calmly.
"Mr. Lawson changed everything three months ago."
"If his death appeared suspicious..."
"You inherited almost nothing."
Michael grabbed the papers.
"This can't be legal!"
The lawyer smiled.
"It already is."
Then another detective stepped forward.
"We also have recordings."
"Phone records."
"Bank transfers."
"And surveillance footage."
Victoria suddenly realized...
Richard hadn't been their victim.
They had walked straight into his trap.
But their greatest shock was still coming.
Because Richard himself stepped out of the helicopter.
Alive.
Covered in dust.
Looking directly into their eyes.
Victoria stumbled backward.
"No..."
"No..."
Richard's voice remained calm.
"I begged because I wanted one last chance to believe you still had a heart."
"You proved me wrong."
Police officers immediately handcuffed Michael.
Victoria tried to run.
She barely took three steps before another officer stopped her.
The crowd watched silently.
Everything they thought had happened...
