CHAPTER 1 – The Bride Who Couldn't Say "I Do"

The church bells echoed across the quiet countryside as hundreds of guests rose to their feet. Every eye turned toward the beautiful bride stepping down the aisle in a breathtaking white gown. To everyone watching, Emily Harper looked like the happiest woman alive.

But she wasn't looking at the groom.

She was staring at the small, yellowed envelope hidden beneath her bouquet.

It had arrived only minutes before the ceremony.

No return address.

Only six chilling words written across the front.

"Read this before you marry him."

Emily had tried to ignore it.

She told herself someone was playing a cruel joke.

After all, Ethan was perfect.

A successful architect. Kind. Gentle. Loved by everyone. They had spent four years building a future together, surviving distance, financial struggles, and countless obstacles.

Today was supposed to be the beginning of forever.

The pastor smiled.

"Dearly beloved..."

Emily's trembling fingers slipped inside the envelope.

One folded letter.

One faded photograph.

The photo showed Ethan standing beside a smiling woman... holding a newborn baby.

The date was from three years ago.

Emily's heart stopped.

She had never seen either of them before.

Then she unfolded the letter.

Her breathing became uneven as she read the first line.

"If Ethan truly loved you, he would have told you about us."

Her knees almost gave out.

The church became silent.

Guests whispered as tears rolled down Emily's cheeks.

Ethan reached for her.

"Emily... what's wrong?"

She looked at him as if she had never met him before.

Without saying a single word...

She turned around...

Lifted her wedding dress...

And ran out of the church.

The guests gasped.

Her parents chased after her.

Ethan stood frozen at the altar.

But no one noticed the older woman sitting quietly in the last pew...

May you like

Because she lowered her head...

And smiled.
