CHAPTER 1 – The Courtroom Fell Silent

The courthouse had never seen a line this long.
Journalists crowded the entrance before sunrise.
Television vans filled the parking lot.
Everyone wanted a seat inside Courtroom 7.
Because today wasn't just another divorce.
It was the divorce of billionaire tech CEO Adrian Blackwell and his seemingly ordinary wife, Emma Carter.
For weeks, every headline had painted the same picture.
"Greedy Wife Demands Half of Billionaire's Fortune."
"CEO Fights Gold-Digger in Court."
Millions of people had already chosen a side.
Most chose Adrian.
Emma entered the courtroom wearing a simple navy-blue dress.
No designer handbag.
No jewelry.
No makeup except for tired eyes that hadn't slept in weeks.
People whispered.
"She doesn't even look rich."
"She'll lose."
"She's lucky he married her."
Across the room, Adrian smiled confidently beside his army of expensive attorneys.
His new girlfriend, glamorous influencer Vanessa Moore, sat proudly in the front row wearing white—as if she had already won.
When Emma walked past them...
Vanessa leaned close enough for everyone nearby to hear.
"You should've signed the papers months ago."
"You'll leave with nothing."
Emma simply smiled.
"I wouldn't celebrate yet."
Vanessa laughed.
Adrian didn't even look at his wife.
Ten years of marriage...
Reduced to complete strangers.
The judge entered.
Everyone stood.
The courtroom became silent.
Adrian's attorney confidently opened the case.
"Your Honor, my client built Blackwell Technologies from nothing."
"Mrs. Carter contributed absolutely nothing to this company."
"She has no legal claim to billions she never earned."
The audience nodded.
It sounded convincing.
Then came the personal attacks.
They showed glamorous photos of Adrian speaking at international conferences.
Beside them...
Old photos of Emma gardening...
Cooking...
Taking care of their home.
The lawyer smirked.
"While Mr. Blackwell worked eighteen-hour days changing the world..."
"Mrs. Carter stayed home."
Laughter echoed from several spectators.
Even Vanessa couldn't hide her smile.
Emma never reacted.
She quietly folded her hands.
The judge turned toward her.
"Mrs. Carter..."
"Would you like to respond?"
She slowly stood.
Her voice barely rose above a whisper.
"I'll wait."
Confused murmurs spread through the courtroom.
The judge frowned.
"Wait for what?"
Emma looked directly at Adrian for the first time.
"For him to finish lying."
The room instantly froze.
Adrian's confident smile disappeared...
Just for a second.
Nobody noticed...
Except the old court reporter sitting quietly in the back.
Because he recognized something no one else did.
Emma wasn't afraid.
She looked...
Prepared.
May you like
And whatever she had hidden inside the brown envelope resting on her lap...
Would soon destroy everything Adrian had spent twenty years building.
