Three days later, Adrian sat alone in a federal interview room.
His expensive suit was wrinkled.
His eyes were red.
His lawyers had abandoned him.
Vanessa had turned against him to save herself.
For the first time in his life...
Adrian Blackwell had no one left to control.
Then the door opened.
Emma walked in.
Adrian looked up, stunned.
“You came to laugh at me?”
Emma sat across from him.
“No.”

“Then why are you here?”

“What is that?”

Inside was a birth certificate.

A child Emma had lost contact with years earlier after Adrian secretly arranged a private adoption behind her back during her breakdown.
He had told Emma the baby had died.

Emma stood and walked toward the door.

“You stole my name.”
“You stole my work.”
