CHAPTER 7 – BOX 317

Federal agents, Clara, and Emily stood together inside a downtown Boston bank as the manager unlocked Safety Deposit Box 317.

The box looked ordinary.

Its contents were anything but.

Inside were several hard drives.

Property deeds.

Original contracts.

Photographs.

And one thick leather journal.

The journal belonged to Julian's former business partner, Michael Reeves.

Michael had supposedly died in a boating accident nine years earlier.

But the journal painted a terrifying picture.

Michael had planned to expose Julian for stealing millions from investors.

Weeks later, Michael disappeared.

His death had always been ruled an accident.

The final journal entry read:

"If anything happens to me, it wasn't an accident. Julian threatened me yesterday."

The investigators looked at one another in stunned silence.

One detective immediately ordered the case reopened.

Back at the detention center, Julian learned what had been found.

For the first time since his arrest...

He cried.

Not because he regretted what he'd done.

Because he realized his past had finally caught up with him.
