Chapter 3: The Daughter Who Wanted Her Gone

William Sterling ordered the store doors locked.

No one was allowed to leave.

The blonde woman, Vanessa Sterling, suddenly looked terrified.

Because if Emily was truly the missing heir...

Then Vanessa was no longer the only daughter.

And everything she believed belonged to her could disappear overnight.

Emily stepped back, shaking her head.

"No... this is impossible. My mother told me I was abandoned."

William's face broke with pain.

"You were never abandoned."

Then he turned to Vanessa.

"Call Dr. Hayes. I want a DNA test today."

Vanessa forced a smile.

"Father, this poor girl is obviously manipulating you."

Emily looked down, ashamed.

But William's voice turned cold.

"She didn't know the inscription. She didn't know me. And she didn't ask for money."

Vanessa's eyes darkened.

That night, Emily was taken to the Sterling mansion.

For the first time in her life, she slept in a room larger than her entire apartment.

But at 2:13 a.m., she woke to a strange sound.

Someone was standing beside her bed.

Vanessa.

Holding Emily's necklace.

"You should've sold it and disappeared," Vanessa whispered.

Emily sat up, terrified.

"What are you doing?"

Vanessa smiled.

"Protecting my family."

Before Emily could scream, Vanessa dropped the necklace into a glass of acid from the jewelry workshop.

The silver began to burn.

Emily cried out.

But Vanessa only leaned closer and whispered,

"Tomorrow, when the DNA test comes back negative, you'll leave this house with nothing."

Then she walked away.

Emily fell to the floor, sobbing.

She thought the last proof of her mother's love had been destroyed.

But Vanessa had made one mistake.

She didn't know William had installed hidden cameras after his baby disappeared.

And the camera had recorded everything.
