Chapter 3 - THE HIGH-ROLLER'S TRAPThe neon lights of Il Diamante cut through the damp Neapolitan fog like jagged blades of violet and gold. It was 3:00 AM, the hour when the high-stakes VIP rooms upstairs hummed with illicit cash, whispered secrets, and desperate gambles.

Vittorio Amato didn't use the front entrance. He and three armed guards swept through the private service elevator, bypassing the security floor entirely. The penthouse office belonged to Gianni Rossi, a greasy middle-man who managed the club's VIP clientele and, conveniently, ran the local upscale dating agency Aura as a side hustle for laundering money and vetting targets for wealthy patrons.

Kick.

Rocco didn’t bother knocking. The heavy mahogany door burst inward, splintering the frame as Vittorio walked in, his long black overcoat billowing behind him like the wings of a predatory bird.

Gianni Rossi scrambled backward out of his plush leather chair, spilling a glass of scotch across his desk. "V-Vittorio? What the hell... you can't just—this is Moretti territory—"

Vittorio crossed the room in three strides, grabbed Gianni by the silk lapels of his suit, and hauled him clean across the desk. The mafia boss’s face was inches from the terrified manager's, his voice a lethal, quiet hiss.

"Two days ago, a woman named Elena Conti walked into this club for a blind date arranged through your agency," Vittorio whispered, his grip tightening until Gianni’s face turned purple. "She never went home. Where is she?"

"I-I don't know what you're talking about!" Gianni squeaked, clawing frantically at Vittorio’s hands. "People come and go every night! I don't keep track of every low-income mother who tries to fish out of her league!"

Vittorio didn't blink. He drew his pistol with his free hand, pressing the cold steel barrel directly against the center of Gianni's forehead. "Let’s try that again. Who booked the VIP private suite on the third floor for Tuesday night? And who was sitting across the table from her?"

Gianni began to shake so violently his teeth chattered. "It was... it wasn't a normal date! Okay? Please, don't shoot!"

"Talk."

"She was set up," Gianni sobbed, his eyes squeezed shut. "A client of mine—a heavy hitter from Rome, connected to the international shipping syndicate—wanted someone discreet. Not a high-end escort, but an ordinary, intelligent woman with no ties to the city's syndicates. They needed someone to deliver a physical ledger... a flash drive containing financial records from the port authority. Elena applied to Aura looking for a legitimate relationship, and her profile popped up. They used the blind date as a cover to hand off the drive."

Vittorio's brow furrowed. "A flash drive? Why would an ordinary single mother carry a high-security port authority ledger?"

"She didn't know!" Gianni cried out. "She thought it was a romantic dinner! But she opened the folder before the meeting ended, realized what it was—evidence of massive weapons smuggling—and she tried to walk out with it. They took her, Vittorio! They took her to the old shipyard warehouse on Pier 4!"

Vittorio shoved Gianni backward into the desk, sending paperwork flying. "If she has a single scratch on her when I find her, I won't just take your club, Gianni. I’ll feed you to the fish in the bay piece by piece."
