Chapter 8 - REUNION AT DAWNThe first rays of golden sunlight were just beginning to spill over the horizon of Naples, casting a warm glow across the sprawling marble courtyard of the Amato estate.

Inside the grand living room, Leo Conti sat curled up in a plush velvet armchair, wrapped in a warm woolen blanket. He had fallen asleep clutching a small cup of cocoa, exhausted from the sheer terror of the night.
Suddenly, the heavy front doors swung open.
Leo jolted awake, his dark eyes snapping toward the entryway. Through the open doors walked his mother, Elena, her hair slightly damp, wrapped in a clean jacket, her eyes shining with tears of absolute joy.
"Mama!"
Leo shrieked, dropping his blanket as he scrambled out of the chair and launched himself across the room.
Elena dropped to her knees just in time to catch him, wrapping her arms tightly around her son as they collapsed together onto the polished marble floor. Sobs of pure relief echoed through the grand foyer. "Leo! Oh, my sweet boy... I'm so sorry, I'm right here. I'm safe."
Leo buried his face into her neck, crying harder than he had all night, holding onto her like she might vanish into thin air. "I knew you'd come back! I knew the man with the scary eyes would find you!"
Standing a few paces away in the shadows of the doorway, Vittorio Amato watched the reunion unfold in quiet silence. His coat was scorched at the hem, his hands slightly blackened from soot, but his expression was entirely at peace. He turned to leave, not wanting to intrude on the private moment.
"Wait."
Elena looked up, her tear-stained face filled with deep, profound gratitude. She gently set Leo aside, stood up, and walked over to the mafia boss. Without a word, she reached out and took his soot-stained hand, pressing the small black flash drive firmly back into his palm.
"You risked your entire empire for a woman you didn't even know," Elena whispered, her voice trembling. "Why? Men like you... you don't do things like this for free."
May you like
Vittorio looked down at the drive, then met her gaze with his piercing, steady eyes. "In my world, signora, loyalty and family are the only things that truly matter. Your son showed a level of courage tonight that most grown men in Naples could only dream of. A boy who fights like that for his mother deserves to keep her."
He closed his fingers tightly around the drive. "And as for this... the corrupt officials and the Moretti syndicate are going to have a very difficult morning."
